Do UC's even consider you if you have less than a 3.0? Or do they just throw your application away? Would it even be worth applying? I heard it is possible to get in if you contact the Admissions office or something like that. If if is, how do you do it?

Three ways to quailify to be considered for admission -- if you don't meet one you won't even be considered:

Statewide context: counts combination of GPA in college prep courses in sophomore and junior year and test scores. Minimum 3.0 GPA needed but understand that is as calculated for sophomore and junior year (freshman grades are ignored) in college prep courses, UC's A-G courses.

Local context: be in top 4% of your class (not likely with less than a 3.0)

Test scores only: you can qualify if under 3.0 if you have very high SAT and SAT II test scores. Generally you have to have a total of 3500 when you add your SAT score to your two SAT IIs to meet minimum required, meaning average 700 on each section of the SAT and 700 on each of the two required and counted SAT IIs..

Understand meeting the mimum qualifications such as by the test score method simply means that you will be considered for admission not that you will actually be admitted.Only one that guarantees admission is the Local context top 4% pathway but that guarantees you admission to a UC not necessarily one of your choice.

And calling the admissions office and begging does not work.
