UC Verification Idiots

Hey guys,

I made a post before about how I got audited by the UC verification people. First, they asked me to provide proof of an award. I told them to contact my teacher, which they didn't.

Now, it gets EVEN WORSE. They told me to show proof for the Academic Talent Program in 11th grade. What's the problem? I NEVER listed that on my application. I don't even know what it is.

I can't tell if these people can't read, are stupid, or are messing with my head. I am calling them when they open at 10am.

And, I left them a very brutal message that this is not a joke for me. *** is wrong with these people. There have already been so many mistakes on their part.

Wow that sucks man. I guess they are really serious about this audit thing. Good thing I don’t have an EC’s. ha

Welcome to UC. They aren’t going to contact anyone for you, they expect you to go out and get the proof and send it to them. You are not going to have a happy time as a UC student if you expect them to give you the level of attention and service that a student at a smaller (and more expensive) college might get.

Wow, leaving them a brutal message is not going to help your chances at all. As we said before in your other thread, it is YOUR responsibility to get proof of everything and just because you refuse to do so doesnt make the people at UC idiots.

How about calling them?

Yeah…I am definitely shaking my head at this…

I got audited, too! But never would I assume that the responsibility of contacting the people who can offer my proof lies on the shoulders of the UC people. Would you do this if an employer asked for proof of a previous activity?

I don’t have physical proof of my EC activity either.
But I’ve been repeatedly contacting the director of the non-profit I was volunteerng at to write me a letter since the beginning of January. After 2 emails and 5 phone calls, she finally answered and promised to write me a letter proving my involvement. It takes some work…but at least I know the UC people won’t throw out my application for not proving proof.

“Welcome to UC. They aren’t going to contact anyone for you, they expect you to go out and get the proof and send it to them.”. That wasn’t the point. They contacted me to verify an award, and it would have taken minutes if they simply emailed or called my teacher.

I asked my Japanese teacher to write a letter of rec, and she said she cannot because she has no authority to verify the award. Even though she was present there.

There is no other way to verify it. My teacher was there, but she cannot do it. I guess my application will be cancelled then.

That’s too bad isn’t it. You think they are going to do that for several thousand applicants?

feelsbadman.jpg

Anyway, you really should’ve checked ahead of time to see if you could validate your award claims. Did you honestly think THEY’D email YOUR teacher? Lol…

for the hundreds paid for the application, and the tens of thousand paid for tuition, can they not email my teacher? for the week spent back and forth, pointless emails, would they not save time by emailing her instead of me? UC takes money, it is a business that should provide business like customer support

No business would do this for you either. They are not your personal assistant. You really need to get over yourself now and realize you are in the wrong. If you carry this kind of work ethic and attitude when you leave college you will never get a job.

If you didn’t have 300+ posts I would have bet that you signed up and posted this as a gag. But I think you are serious. Let me tell you right now, with this attitude you are going to be an unhappy camper if you end up transferring to this UC

Am I the only one that sees a complete contradiction here? Somehow if UC emails some teacher they will get the verification they need, but when OP asks there is no verification available?

Guess it sucks to be you…

Just tell them to overlook that award. It seems like it’s causing more trouble than it’s worth.

It just feels personal because I am dirt poor, little financial aid, and the university takes huge sums from me in fees. I don’t really hold a grudge, but I would think that they could do just email her. I am definitely active in everything concerning college, I just feel like they can do one small thing?

Yeah it is weird. My teacher said she can’t email them, but if they asked her, she can. the theme of my life lately is “f— logic”.

I just talked to them and they said to just prove I went to Japan. I contacted the UCR extension center director. Hopefully it is all well!

Once you get rid of this attitude, life will go a lot easier for you. UC is not out for you… they have too much to do each day to make it a personal point to make your life difficult. Besides, if they really wanted the fees, they’d hit somebody that was full-pay.

Where do you get that idea from? Remember that you are currently applying. You want them to like you. You want them to accept you. They don’t have to do anything for you-- if you aren’t willing to do it, UCB can find another three people who’d happily take your place. UCB has no obligation to you at all right now-- you are asking them to accept you, and they’re not begging you.

Do you finish the verification then?

I received the UC Verification thing as well… Do you think because we received this, it will delay our admission decision?

If I were you, I could do whatever it takes to clear the verification process. I posted in the last thread you made. When I received questions from UCB, I talked to like 25 people to help me out. I know is stressful. If you can’t provide proof, you can always write a deep letter explaining why you can’t give them verification in a short notice. The UC are also humans and they will understand you if you write persuasively and clearly. Good luck!

Ron2115 here has the right attitude. You should listen to him.

Just got a weird email from UCB. They wanted me to explain two gaps in my education. For the first one, I thought I made myself clear in one of my personal statements. But I just briefly explained again and told them to look at the personal statement for more details. For the second gap, I’m pretty sure there was a mistake because it was for a time period in which I was enrolled at my current school. I have a copy of the application I sent in originally and checked the UC application website and it’s all there.
