UCB and UCLA admission question!

Hey guys, I'm going to apply UCB and UCLA for fall 07. In spring 07, I'm going to take General Chem B and one computer sience which are pre-req for my Engineering major. Since I know that UC decision letters come out around beginning of May and spring semester ends @ around Mid may, I would like to know if UC look at my spring grade to consider for admission.

The GPA they use to determine whether you're in the one you have up to fall, which is now. But they do make sure you're on top of things in the later semesters...

hmm.. so u mean even if my GPA right now is only 3.3, and by the end of Spring 2007 my GPA raises to 3.6, they will still determine based on my GPA that I have right now (3.3)????

:(

A friend of mine got accepted to UCLA and then was rejected after they found out he was doing poorly in one of his classes.

Yes. The only grades that will affect your admissions will be those that you have at the time you send in your app.

Btw...in post #4, by poorly I mean he scored something like a D or an F.

ucla said it well

First of all, congrats on the modship. Hope you censor those who bash on UCLA (like a certain poster in this forum)...

But the UCs ask you to update your fall grades around January or February...certainly these grades are somehow factored into the admissions decision.

why isn't cardinal a mod?

lol..maybe he needs 3,000 more posts.

Cardinal,

To the best of my knowledge, those grades don't have any significant effect on admissions. However, I have been wrong in the past and will be wrong again in the future, so it's possible that you're right.

My gut instinct tells me that it's not factored in, however.

Do we need to send in our final transcripts of our last semester?

Absolutely.

UCLA made it a condition of my admission that I not have a final grade below a B. :( It was strange, Berkeley and UCSD didn't add anything like that in their admissions contracts, and a friend who was also accepted to UCLA just had a blurb about passing (C?).

So, I don't know what the deal was, just make sure to maintain or improve your grades each reporting term. I think if you're applying with an A or high B average, they expect you to maintain it.

its probably factored in if its a noticable drop in performance....otherwise i doubt they'd take reconsider an applicant if their gpa went from 3.82 to 3.79 or something small

I dunno what the adcoms really do, but as for me, I'm saving all the hard courses till the last semester (calc III, business law, etc) just so I can be more flexible in terms of what grade i get.

I know one thing for sure: the adcoms tend to be more lenient on the last term's grade for the acceptees.

*It's better to get two B's in the last semester than to get one B in other terms (1st, 2nd, 3rd semester).

btw UCLAri, congrats on your modship.
I hope you do a fair job in determining who to ban and who to censor.

Why would he cesnor or ban anyone?

cuz he's a mod...

You mean like "I don't like your opinion, I'm going to ban and censor you 'cuz I'm a mod...'"?
