UCB- any information on legacy applicants?

My son is considering applying to Cal- my mother graduated in the early 50’s and I was wondering if there is any value in including this information in the application process. Thanks!

You could include it, but it is typically the nuclear family that is included. With so much competition to get in to all of the colleges, it’s not playing that much of a part anymore. At some LACs it is considered.

UCB is so competitive that the main points are for demonstrating exceptional GPA/Test scores then essays and EC’s. Being instate will help.

Thank you!

I don’t think UCB considers legacy at all.

UCB nor any of the UC’s consider legacy.
