UCB asking for financial aid documents.

I just received an email from Berkeley asking me for financial aid document. Like all other schools, I need to send them proof of citizenship (may even in person). Is this a good sign?

I got the email too.

I got this too and when I goto the link it asks for a calnetid which I don’t have. any ideas?

I didn’t get any email of the sort. I wonder if it goes to all admitted students, or only admitted students who (for one reason or another) have a document missing for some reason?

In other words, I wonder if we are all supposed to get this if/when we are admitted?

According to a guy on the Berkeley decisions thread who called Cal net for an id or something, you guys are in. Congratulations!!! I’m so jelly!

@ MissJun But beware of trolls! So far, I’ve seen a lot of people mess with us these last few days. :-)

Lol prepare to disappointment

@CQCBanana
Oh if that guy was lying that would be *****ed up lol. I kind of believe him though. I mean, why would Berkeley ask them for their financial aid documents if they weren’t already accepted?

Berkeley asked for my financial aid document and cc transcript last year and I was rejected.

@ MissJun Let me clarify: I agree that it is probably a good sign if UCB asks for your financial aid documents! However, I’m saying that I might not trust someone claiming that he/she called up Cal and had someone congratulate him on his acceptance.

I’m not saying the person is a liar, I’m just saying I don’t know if I would trust that one random, anonymous person’s story.

However, to reiterate my first point, if you got a document request I agree that it sounds like a good sign!

@ghiblijiang

This dork is trolling all of the forums; pay no mind.

Did you receive any notifications from any other schools you’ve applied to?

I haven’t had any problems with my financial aid at the other uc’s… So it’s difficult to understand what they need. I’m guessing I should wait to see if I got in before acting

@CQBanana
You’re right. I shouldn’t be too quick to believe people, this is the internet after all. My lack of sleep has been affecting my judgement. I retract my previous statement guys, you MIGHT be in lol.
@ ghilbijiang
Can’t tell if trolling

They didn’t ask me for anything. Guess I’m not in… :(

They only ask you if they need those documents from you. If you don’t need to show documents, they won’t ask. So it’s neither good or bad.

There are still two days until decisions and we still don’t know for sure if this email implicates acceptance. And what about people who didn’t submit FinAid? Don’t panic just yet

@Kay Don’t jump to conclusions. I would be very, very surprised if the school’s policy was to email every admitted student for one random document. I bet this only happens for students where, for whatever reason, some piece of the necessary financial aid info fell through the cracks somewhere.

Plus if this was normal based on previous years, everyone on College Confidential would be saying “Oh yeah, well if you get in to UCB, they’ll email you a few days before asking for you to verify citizenship.” In other words, dont worry ;-)

The guy who posted that he called Berkeley and they told him that he was accepted is a bit suspicious… he only has 2 posts and one was from a year ago. So who knows? I mean it has to be a good sign that they are looking at your app. I did not receive the email

i got the email this morning too and i called the number. a lady told me i have to wait for the decision.
