UCB Chances for Sociology?

Long time reader, first time poster.

I attend a CCC in Redwood City and am currently almost finished with my 2nd semester (not including summer of 07).

I have a few questions:

I will be applying this Fall in November and my current GPA is a 4.0. I believe it may go down, however, at worst case scenerio to a 3.8. Is this GPA adequete for admission into UCB's Sociology dept.?

Also, I finished my IGETC except for 2 of the sciences (I'm taking Oeanogoraphy with lab and Anthropology). I am taking Anthropology in the summer, and I will take Oceanogoraphy in the Fall. Would it hurt me if I took Oceanogoraphy in the Spring? or is it best to get it done in the Fall?

What do you think my chances are to get into Berkeley in the Fall of 09?

Match, assuming you'll finish with all of the prereqs by Spring.

Careful not to establish a downward grade trend, though

DONT wait to take the oceanography. Don't give admissions any possible
reason to deny you. Make sure the classes you take in Spring are just the
ones you need to complete unit requirements. Schools really want the core
igetc reqs done in time for the admissions folks to be able to see the grades
you got for those classes. they don't care as much about the "filler"

Honestly it will not hurt you to take Oceanography in the spring. If you think there is a possibility that you will get a B in oceanography or it will affect grades in your other classes for sure take it in Spring.

i get denied from cal with a 3.9(sociology) and i had igetc completed the fall before transfer... bummer

why do people honestly ask if they have a chance for xyz school because they have xyz GPA? havent you guys realized you might be denied no matter
how amazing your stats? does it really give you a sense of assurance to have a stranger on a message board tell you you should get in?

Well, the board has a lot of people who have been accepted to great schools. As a result, they are then able to give recommendations in correlation to the individuals' requirements/needs/goals.

I'm just curious, aren't Oceanography and Anthropology both biological sciences? IGETC needs a biological and physical science.
