Is it necessary to keep checking the portal? Won’t they send out an email that there’s an update and to check then?

For some people it seems that the larger number of addresses the better. sorry, very confused. Getting ready for my S applicant of 2020! Thank you! :
I’m not prof plum but I know from last year there was a theory that if your portal showed four copies of your address instead of two, people believed that was some evidence of an acceptance. Pretty sure this was disproved last year (people with two addresses accepted; people with four rejected) but people are still taking note of it. I have a kid at Berkeley and the addresses never changed in any way before their acceptance. Just FYI. Hard not to try to determine ahead of time but I honestly do not think there’s any preliminary clues.
@kibbies Thank you for your response! I guess it will make more sense when my S submits his application. Good to know, that this has nothing to do on how the application is submitted.
@califmom23 Just just curious, why are you on a waitlist thread if your son is applying next year?
I called AGAIN today (because I’m obsessed at this point) and they said that they aren’t going to say when they’ll release waitlists. They said that no one at the office knows and I was like y’all are liars. Give me my decision back please, I’ll give you my first born child. Take anything you want, just leT ME IN
@compSciLover BAHAHAHA ME TOO, ME TOO. I feel like they all aren’t on the same page which is just frustrating.
@SHibah ya for real! When I called them last week they said exactly that they were gonna start reviewing waitlists on Monday (so today) and that we should expect something by the end of this week. Now they’re like wE dOnT kNoW and I’m like ya sure you don’t
My son was waitlisted last year and was accepted first wave on 5/7. His portal definitely changed beforehand. His addresses changed to 4 from the 2 and I can’t remember what it was exactly but something about waitlist faq’s changed to admitted faq’s…or something like that. His address also went to 4 from 2 right before he was waitlisted too? It really seems to mean something…I’d say a better sign than not for sure. Good luck all you future bears! UC Berkeley seems to have a pretty good acceptance rate off of the waitlist, so think positively!!!

No decision yet. Honestly pissed off it didn’t come out today because last year it came out around this time. So of course our year is when it changes.
no decision yet yea – its 4PM which is when the admissions office closes so we probably wont get any updates today.
