i know ucb doesn't have majors that are easy to get into. but what kinds of majors have the highest acceptance rates?

The highest acceptance rate major at Cal is, the rate is so high, you could easily get accepted with a crappy GPA. I highly suggest you apply under the major because it give you an upperhand if you are on the low side of things. Just finish the prereqs for it.

Haas and EECS are pretty easy to get into. You might wanna try econ if you want to stay in L&S.

the transfer major i chose is mcb, which is about 41% acceptance rate as of last year.

also, according to assist.org, one of my required classes is math 101A, but i can take math 101B cuz my ap test score satisfies 101A. but i’m thinking about taking 101A still cuz that way i can keep my gpa safe. should i take 101A or 101B?

Apply to Haas dude, forget about MCB. Haas has a 78% acceptance rate.

seriously? i mean, mcb does have more required classes than econ, but i thought econ was like 20% acceptance?

I’m kidding, MCB is better. What is your gpa? Yes econ is difficult to get into.

lol, well since i’m just entering college, my high school gpa unweighted is 3.8 and weighted is 4.1. so i’m worried about maintaining my gpa for transferring

JetForcegeminix is a moron, haas is the most competitive program at Berkeley, of the students there only like 50% get into the major while the transfer rate is around 7%. Def. not the easiest program to get into, but thats what happens when people post false info.

^Lighten up.

These are the responses you get if you are a newbie asking about the easiest transfer major at UCB.

wow someone has a stick up their ass.

Just don’t handle stupidity very well. If you don’t know what you’re talking about just don’t even comment. As a transfer student you cannot select an alternative major at CAL so telling people that they should apply there is just stupid, economics is far less competitive than the Haas School of Business, i would know…i got in.

Haas transfer admission rates were at 20%-25%, if, as you should, you count only people who finish prereqs. I don’t know if it’s “very competitive”. It’s on par with Cornell, but is pretty far from more selective Ivies.

you got into haas yet you can’t realize blatant sarcasm when you read it? i mean come on i listed the 3 most selective majors at berkeley how much more obvious could that be.

math is an easy major to get into

well thanks everyone (except for JetForce )!

also, 2 questions:

is it better if i use ap credit to skip some of my requirements like english and math, or should i just take the class anyway since it might keep my gpa safe

up to when does a uc look at my gpa?

I would recommend not taking those courses over. Getting a high GPA in CC is not that difficult, so you don’t need to bore yourself retaking classes just to boost it.

If you are applying for the Fall semester like most people do, then the UCs will see your grades up until the end of your previous Fall Semester. The only grades they don’t see are those in your final Spring semester. What happens is you apply in November for the subsequent Fall, entering your grades for all previous semesters. Then in January, they make you do an application update where you fill in your grades for the Fall Semester.

all joking aside, melocotones i think this was what you’re looking for(page 5): http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/12626_5.Info_TransAdm.pdf

yup, i saw this page and it was really helpful thanks man. CollegeHopeful18, i might skip some classes like math, but some like english and all that literature stuff, i’m not sure if i should take it right away cuz that was my worst subject back in school…

OK, so i am going to UCSB this year. I’m starting my freshman year early by taking courses over the summer. I am majoring in physics, and because it a bachelor of science degree, there are less gen ed requirements.

I am trying to transfer in UCB or UCLA. I have 28 credits from AP courses taken in HS, and by the end of my freshmen year, with these summmer courses, I should crack 90 quarter credits. Also, I will have finished all my gen ed requirements. Both UCB and UCLA require at least 90 credits in addition to the completion of your resprective schools gen ed requirements when tranferring within the UC system. Because I meet these two requirements after finishing my freshman year of college, will the schools allow me transfer after just one year? And if they do allow it, how likely is an acceptance after they see I’ve been in college for only a year and they consider junior transfers.
