UCB - The Achievement Award Program

I received this email yesterday. I wonder if this means I might get accepted =) I applied as an Anthropology major with a 3.4 GPA all pre-reqs done.

Did anyone else get it? What are your stats??

Dear UC Berkeley Applicant:

The Cal Alumni Association invites you to apply for our undergraduate scholarship - The Achievement Award Program.

Funded through the generosity of Cal alumni and supporters, The Achievement Award Program provides incoming freshman and junior transfer students up to $6,500 each year and a new laptop computer.

Application Deadline: February 24 @ 5:00 p.m. PST

Please apply early to guarantee submittal of your application.

Haha… read the fine print way at the bottom

i got the same email…im pretty sure everyone gets it?

Lol, yes I got it… and no it doesn’t mean you might get accepted. Read the section that you didn’t paste in this thread.

xcaliberse LOL

Everyone who applied to Berkeley got that email?

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be mean :). Well I don’t know if EVERYBODY who applied got the email because I didn’t send it out, but apparently that’s what it seems like. Anyways the point is that it has nothing to do with our admission status.

I didn’t get that email and I applied to Berkeley.

Perhaps they sent the email to applicants depending on the characteristics they checked on the UC App? The scholarship does focus on community involvement.

But since the information for the scholarship was available through the UCOP site before, it could have been a general email.

@BostonCrmPie I agree

Not sure, but I think I read somewhere on the website of the scholarship that illegal immigrants can have access to it as long as they went to high school in California. I am a US citizen and CA resident but I didn’t attend high school in CA, that might be why I didn’t get the email.

OR, it’s just that they already made a pre-selection based on your EC’s. In that case, it’s much more encouraging for the people that received the email

Requirements for transfer students:

Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
Gross family income of $86,000 or less
California resident as defined by the AB 540 guidelines
Submit a UC Berkeley application for Fall 2011/Spring 2012 enrollment
Submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to UC Berkeley by June 1, 2011

I am a not a CA resident according to the AB 540 guidelines, that’s what I was trying to explain. Thanks CaliforniaMatt

Maybe they emailed the qualified applicants?

^yeah that would seem to be the case. I dont meet the requirements because my parents combined income is ~90k, so that would explain why i didnt get the email.
