It begs the question.....did anyone pursue a TAA with UCD? If not, did your school offer it? I realise some don't. My school "used" to have guaranteed admission to schools like USC with just a 3.5, I believe. Anyway, having worked in the Transfer Center, I had never heard of anyone being rejected from UCD. I would definitely appeal, especially if all the requirements were done and with a 3.2+ GPA.

I mean, c'mon, they're no "ahem" UCLA or UCB in academic standing....they need to show a little humility. lol

BruinMichelle I totally agree but, in economic terms, it's a matter of scarcity and they just don't have the seats to satisfy even the greatest of students. UCD is on my top 5 list, or should I say WAS, and I'm sure this goes true for the hundreds of millions of other transfer students who are scrambling to get a seat in any UC they can grasp. Unfortunately, you cannot take all the 4.0 students and leave the others in the dust. I can understand how painful it would be to find that a university such as UCD rejected you based on their limited number of seats but that's life. Hopefully UCD is just lagging and will send out the remaining acceptance letters to those who deserve it. I wish you all the best of luck with your alternative choices.

One may get into Stanford but not UC Santa Cruz, it's not about scarcity any more, it's like you have enough dough to buy a Ferrari but the dealer wouldn't sell you a Civic.

i did a taa and got in with a 3.6 for econ. the taa takes up alot of slots so if you didnt sign one you may be screwed. its like the tap with ucla, there are only so many spots open after they look at the tap students. but i wont be going to davis anyways, just been accepted to usc and waiting ucla, so ill send in my decline so a spot will open up for one of you whities. holla back

transferjoe -- I think you're right about the TAA taking up a lot of seats. I didn't apply to UCD, but my counselor told me that if I was going to, I should take the TAA agreement whether I thought I "needed" it with my GPA or not. maybe that's what he meant.

It sucks that really qualified people get rejected because they didn't sign a piece of paper. And now I'm worried about UCLA, since the TAP wasn't offered at my CC.

^^exactly.
As i said before in some thread over here,
a friend of mine has 4.0 gpa in psychology and she didn't sign the taa with davis (couselar said she didnt need to, high enough gpa)...i'm so glad i have a awesome counselor, 1/2 of them dunno what the hell theyre talking about.

she talked with davis counselor and basically said that shes screwed. Its too late to sign it and it was a really, really bad move to not do the taa, cuz so many ppl have 4.0s appying to davis, esp. in impacted majors...

well...i dont think so. As long as you keep up your grades, do SOMETHING during the 2 yrs at CCC to prove that you are working towards a better eduction..im sure you'll get into SOME uc..doesnt mean u'll get into the uc of your choice...but i guess riverside/merced/irvine is in reach.

Wow, that really is terrible for students with impressive GPA's to be rejected from UCD. Had a friend that was a Grad student there and it seemed like a pretty place for a UC. I mean, I did OK, no 4.0 for me, but then my classes were taught by the same faculty as UCSB, so I already had a taste for what UC-caliber work has to look like.

Regarding USC, I'd read the reviews at studentreviews.com and see what alumni and current students have to say. I declined my admission last year because of the location, the "environment" and lack of scholastic.....integrity just to name a few.....

If it's true that they look at applications by major, it's possible they loaded up on the early majors and then, after realizing how few slots were left and knowing the ****-storm they'd face if they went back and rejected people they told were admitted, they were forced to reject a lot of exceptional applicants because of space limitations.

Although, if you you're looking for a more sinister reason, how about this:
This year, they decided to admit a large number of transfer students on the lower end of the GPA scale (3.0ish), so that these accepted students would tell all their 3.0 friends that they were admitted, which means more future applications by people who didn't think they would be admitted. Then, they reject a large number of transfer students with close to 4.0 GPA's, so that they tell their equally exceptional friends they were rejected and thus making Davis seem very selective and might make these students give Davis a second look if they've been accepted to UCSD/LA/B.
Combine the two and you have a large influx of applications from the poor students, an increase in the number of great students applying and registering, and thus you make yourself artifically selective with a great student body.

I wish this part would have happened:
"This year, they decided to admit a large number of transfer students on the lower end of the GPA scale (3.0ish), "
thats exactly where i am
and still rejected... :)

ely im telling you, this is all part of the rejection process. we are a very fortunate group of people do you understand that. The university of california has deemed us acceptable for transfer. do you have any idea how many people might not have picked fall back schools much less been admitted to any UC. Think of the scores of high school senoirs whos UC dreams were crushed do to ever higher numbers of over qualified applicants. WE HAVE PREVAILED. The only thing you can do is show your loyalty and stick your nose right back up at those bastards. Besides DAVIS is weak anyways. its just a smelly central valley cow town. We are going to waking up to pacific coast sunrises!

hey, don't diss the cow towns! i grew up an hour from davis and i loved it! it's better than the bay area town i am in now! people are just nicer, more open to new people there.

which town are you in browneyedgirl? would u mind if i ask?

i live in bay area also. I actually likes davis a lot, have a lot of friends there, and spent time in their dorm and got to know ppl. although i do not plan to attend it at all..

haha, cow town :) one of my classmates and i were just talking about davis, and how we used to "diss" it all the time back in our 4.0-days (for her it was a long time ago, like her first semester, and for me it was until the end of last year). and now we feel like we're royally screwed because we might have to end up studying at Davis if the big three/two don't admit us.

But, let's give credit where it's due - Davis has a SUPERB biological sciences program, which is what my major is.

Anyway, rejects, don't give up just yet! Appeal!
