if you think living in a cow town is cool brown eyed girl you got another thing commin. and i know what its like to live in a cowtown too, when my parents divorced my dad moved to TRACY. and it SUCKS NUTTS out there. the central valley is a tweakers waste land. Davis is a great school and has a very high ranking. but you know what, when it comes down to it, i can shot for davis again when its time to apply for law school. Places that we are going such as santa barbra and santa cruz are much different. I mean for christs sake girls in santa barbra walk around in bikini's how cool is that???? and santa cruz is clutch for me cuz they have a cannibus club nearby where i can get my medicinal marijuana for my back pains. teehehehehehehehehehe

You're right biochemist12, Davis has an excellent bio sci program (my major also). This may be a little off-topic, but do you know how Santa Barbara's program compares? I'm trying to make a decision in case I get rejected from LA, and SB seems so nice...

torifan, i'm not sure actually. i think Davis might be a little more up there than SB. for marine bio, SB may be better, but for everything else i would imagine Davis is better.

a little more OT for us bio majors: is it possible that davis has a better bio program than berkeley? i have heard from many people that UCLA's bio program is not even at par with davis, and that if i want to be a bio major and want to go to a SoCal UC, i should go to SD instead. what about berkeley though? anyone here know?

i was told that UCD's bio program is worse comparing to UCSD.

yep, i heard the same thing. UCSD has the best bio program among the UCs. but which is second? is it berkeley, or davis, or maybe even SB?

EDIT: based on this, SD's bio program is really waaaay up there.

grew up in yuba city, now live in danville. HUGE adjustment!

Please do not come to UCSB thinking that the girls walk around in bikinis. My gosh, how ridiculous. anyway...It's an excellent school overall. You need to look at the page "Points of Pride", a link provided on the front page of the site. The faculty are consistently winning Nobel Prizes and other fellowships and awards which are extremely impressive.

I would be going there myself, however, I'm looking for a set of courses that are much more intense, a program that you can select, etc......

I've been to UCD. It's a pretty location, but a little too sleepy of a town for social life. And no, I don't mean clubs and bars, I just means places that provide opportunities for the arts and cultural events.....it's just too easy to get into.

^^exactly.
As i said before in some thread over here,
a friend of mine has 4.0 gpa in psychology and she didn't sign the taa with davis (couselar said she didnt need to, high enough gpa)...i'm so glad i have a awesome counselor, 1/2 of them dunno what the hell theyre talking about.

she talked with davis counselor and basically said that shes screwed. Its too late to sign it and it was a really, really bad move to not do the taa, cuz so many ppl have 4.0s appying to davis, esp. in impacted majors...
that doesnt make sense.

i got into davis WITHOUT a TAA with only a 3.35 gpa (econ major)

don't listen to her i have seen this! girls in santa barbra!!! and by god some of them were wearing bikini's!!and believe it or not some of them were actually swimming in the water! and bruin girl ucla sucks. for the simple reason that its located in the sleaziest city in california. america's armpitt....i hope you inhale more lead from that poluted hell hole you call smog angeles.

i've seen girls at uc davis go around town in bikinis too when it gets warm out. it's probably just more common in SB b/c the beach is right there.

Danville? do you go to DVC?

who cares if girls go around town in bikinis? it's coed shower that counts.

yes i do go to DVC, aka smoker's paradise. those damn dvc kids and their cigarettes, i'll tell you . . . lol. luckily this is my last semester there. now all i have to do is decide b/t UCSB and UCI.

between UCSB and UCI? That was an easy decision for me...

Croberts, I'm not sure at what point you felt the need to be so vicious. I'd look into that if I were you. Take it up with your priest, psychologist, rabbi, shamin, or anger management counselor, but not on a college discussion forum where nothing is taken ever so seriously.

I have not gotten into UCLA, none of us has, as of 9:45am April 25th (to my knowledge). I think you're just a little tense from being rejected, perhaps? I'm from Santa Barbara where the motto is: "keep LA, 100 miles away". I'm going for the "academics", and not pursuing UCSB because I have already taken courses there and found it an excellent school for some, just not for me.

to sum up: Settle down, you'll never make it in college with that attitude. And PS-thank you for calling me a girl. lol I'm in my mid-20's and usually we're only referred to as women, but "girl" is nice, too.
