UCD > UCSD?

<p>Ok well lets see!
What types of activities are there to do and how often do they happen? When it comes to activities, there is no limit, aside from what you want to do, however some are only offered at certian times, simply becuase of space. The only activity that i have not been able to do up here is airsofting. But as for other things... (ill list a few). Table Tennis, badmitton, rock climbing, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, racketball, football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, indoor soccer, karatee, wresteling, yoga, group cycling, weight lifting.. these can all be done in the ARC (activities and recreation center) from 6am to 1am mon-thur, and there are diffrent hours on the weekends. And outside of the arc, there are diffrent activities like white water rafting, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, outdoor rock climbing, and alot more all within an hour of Davis.
If you mean activities like Im sports all the sports listed above that happen in the arc, have IM sports at some time during the year. I played IM ping pong (singles and doubles) and IM Basketball this past quarter, and even though my teams didn't win i still had alot of fun.
Speakers? There are guest speakers at least once a week... we had Nader this year, weve had both clintons, and alot of other very prestigious people... im not as intrested in speakers as other people so i dont know as much though, but i do know they come OFTEN!
Theatre? ALL THE TIME, with the new Mondavi Center... which is seriously an architectural phenomenon, as well as a multi-million dollar preforming arts center, there are all diffrent types of theatre here ALL the time, as well as well known preformers in miscelaneous things, like pianists, singers ect... But let me tell you the mondavi center... if you visit Davis check it out!
Seminars? There are many freshman seminars, which i suggest being a part of, if you can fit it into your schedule (i wasn't able to as an engineer, they pretty much give you your schedule and you have to follow it almost exactly to graduate in 4 years). But ther eare hundreds, you just need to find the time to take them.
What do the kids do in their free time? In my free time.. i spend most of my time at the rock wall, when im physically able, or play basketball or ping-pong. Alot of my friends lift, some rollerblade... Over all people do what they want to do. Its always easy to find enough people to get a game of ultimate frisbee going, or a game of 2 hand touch football (im too weak for tackel!!!). Actually... recently ive been playing 4 person super smash brothers melee.. since ive been injured that game has been awsome with some good friends. But at any given time during my free time... i could be just about anywhere. And the same can be said for most other students here.
Is there anything to do in Sacramento? I personally have only been to sacramento once, but i went shopping there, and it was enjoyable... personally i like the weather in davis more, but from what i hear, sacramento is really fun.
Is the environment overall intellectually stimulating? For me I have been VERY intellectually stimulated... the students here are for the most part dedicated to excelling in their classes... Going through Chem and Math i have made alot of study partners, and have helped alot of people understand diffrent complicated concepts. Also the great thing about davis is that if you are struggeling in any class, chances are there are tutoring sessions for that class that are free, held by diffrent TA's. But even coming from what i would call a top notch high school, Davis has been very challenging for me, even in classes i thought i should have no trouble with at all.
As for the weather here. In the winter it gets cold, as for spring... its pretty much perfect, about mid 70's clear skys.... recently the sun has been out and there have been girls tanning out in front of the dorms <em>drool</em> weve been tossing around the frisbee, having a good tiem in the sun, but today its been raining... so really its like kinda random... but as for summer it is HOT! Luckily all teh classes are air conditioned, as well as all teh dorm rooms. Also... being close to tahoe, is AWSOME!!!</p>

<p>But a couple words of advice for those of you checking out UCD. Check out the mondavi center, and check out the quad. This campus is amazing, and the town only exemplifies it. Also for some reason (and im biased because i live in the segundo dorms) i think segundo seems to be more social, and tercero seems to be more studious. So if your looking for a more social atmosphere pick Segundo, but if your afraid youll never study becuase your a party animal, pick tercero. And cuarto i guess is a balance, but i never go there lol. Anyways check out the campus, this place really is awsome!</p>

<p>Good luck deciding your colleges guys i hope i helped!</p>

<p>I am CC student hoping and praying to transfer to UCSD as a molecular biology major. Im interested in signing the TAG agreement cause you can apply for spring or winter quarter and I know everyone applies for fall semester, so maybe this will give me a competitive edge. Does anyone know more info on the TAG and if you must complete all the courses prior to transfer or can I finish my 3rd semester of calculus at the university? also what are my chances of transferring w/a 3.3 IGETC certified, no extracurriculars( I work full time)?</p>

<p>Pacifist..wow...that's all i can say to that post</p>

<p>Allright Pacifist pretty much covered everything...my spark notes HIGHLIGHTS
Things to do:
- THE ARC...its amazing...its free...and did i mention its like heaven...even if your not into sports or working out you'll find yourself thier
- For you theatre buffs: THE MONDAVI CENTER IS A MASTERPIECE...brand new...state of the art...constant shows
- Pacifist failed to mention-AGGIE SPORTS- My personal favorite...unlike other UCs all Aggie sporting events are FREE! They also give away insane amounts of stuff at these games, I have a wardrobe of free t-shirts. Plus, its an insanely exciting time to be an AGGIE as we've transitioning to D1. We're playing at Stanford next year in football (BEAT THE FAKE FARM), and we have the best Arena and college atmosphere in basketball out of all the schools not Cal and UCLA. And we're only going to grow with the formation of groups like <a href="http://www.ucdavis6thman.com%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.ucdavis6thman.com&lt;/a>.
- The Memorial Union- Is the center of campus life in Davis. Unlike other UCs the we actually use our student union. We have a full bowling alley and it is DIRT CHEAP to bowl for students. The MU also has a full arcade and pool hall.</p>

<p>As for my student life:
- I really like biking...anything in Davis is excessible through bikes. The UC Davis Aboretum with every singe plant from California and with a winding river is not only beutiful and fun to bike through, but a great place to study.
- I found pretty much everyone in my dorm area to be extremely cool. Those jerks in highschool, I really don't see much of those people here. So I spend lots of time just hanging out doing the normal college stuff.
- IMs...though i'm not the most gifted athlete...intramurals are sooo much fun. Indoor Soccer and Intertube water polo are my personal faves, they keep students busy and active. With 15,000 students particpating and leagues for new players, it doesnt matter if you suck in the sport (ala me in waterpolo)
- THe local club THE GRAD is a short walk away, and people dance to thier hearts content on the 18 and over nights.
Pretty much the town Davis has a lot of little nooks and crannies for students to find...check out <a href="http://www.wikipedia.org%5B/url%5D"&gt;www.wikipedia.org&lt;/a>
- IN conclusion, I and all my friends here at Davis love it.</p>

<p>i need help...</p>

<p>should i go biological sciences at davis or human biology at ucsd - thurgood?</p>

<p>i live close to davis..but i'm afraid that i might be making the wrong decision by passing up on ucsd? or am i? i need some guidance because my school has **** for crap counselors...</p>

<p>the only thing i can say is check out the campuses... that really is the best advice i can give to someone trying to find the right place for them.</p>

<p>yeah but ucsd is better academically and is higer on the uc ranking list</p>
