S came home last week. He heads back at the end of this weekend to begin summer school on Monday (5/14), where he’ll take three courses. That way, he believes he can graduate in four years.
Your S has made a great choice! UCF rocks for Computer Science – one of the best in the country. When we were visiting the University of Florida, even our U of F tour guide conceded that for Computer Science, UCF is the place to go!

Look carefully at the catalog for CS. It may be pretty well set. We set up a spreadsheet that we update every semester. Try to select 2 honors classes if possible because he will need to get his quota in. Pay very close to info on pre-requisites. Have him go in “Well armed” with info because you will barely see him that day. Give him a few options if possible. Make sure he takes in all the info for all his AP/IB/DE classes. The advisors are very use to dealing with this info.
Tell him to have fun…try to make a friend or two and definitely not to stress about it.
Remember that nothing gets set in stone…anything can be changed right after orientation if he doesn’t like his class schedule by you guys in the comfort of your own home…lol.
TAKE AN UMBRELLA!!
