UCF Housing Preferences website now up!

The website is now available to put your housing/dorm preferences. For summer B you put down 3 out of four choices (double in Hercules/Nike, Single apartment in Hercules/Nike (in summer the academic village apartments are open for freshman!), single in Lake Claire or Single in Towers (mixed with upperclassman in apt.).
For Fall 2008, if you previously had put down for an annual contract in Towers, you put down in order which tower you would like. The website also says there is Limited space in Tower 1 and 3 (honors) and Very Limited space in Tower 4. Seems to be plenty of space in Tower 2 since they didn't say anything extra about it. Does anyone know if there really is any difference? Is Tower 4 the best of the non honors towers (since it seems so popular)? Do they ever put non honors students in Tower 3 (if it isn't maxed out with honors students?)

I'm wondering if a lot of those who decided to stay are in Tower 4. My S moved with his roomates from honors tower 3 to Tower 4 for next fall. And, I seem to remember that a lot of athletes were also in Tower 4, which may still be true. Perhaps they're trying to make "freshman"/upperclass Towers? I'll have to ask DS.

My D put for her Fall preferences in Towers....Tower 1, 4 and 3 (in that order) but she isn't in honors so IDK if her third choice is a wasted item. She vaguely remembered Tower 1 being the closest to "everything" but honestly, online they look kinda even. Anyone know any insider info about tower 1 versus tower 4....or tower 2 (other than it is the furthest walk).

My sophomore D is in Tower 4 this year. It is the most conveniently located one.

anyone else signed up for Libra as first two choices?

For some reason my pid/password combination isn't working, so I can'y access the preferences. :(

How do I change my password without that ucf id card?

go onto myUCF and click on the "what is my PID/NID link"...maybe you are forgetting something...it is case sensitive you know. You may be able to change your password here to.

I've done all of that, I don't even type my info in, I have it saved to a document so caps lock isn't the problem.

It really makes no sense. Also, why would they ask for ucfid card to change your password if people coming into ucf don't even have one yet?

nvm, I got in now.

Why are we limited to only the 4/2 rooms?

Blaze - I am assuming that you are refering to the Towers for fall?
I think that the 4/4 rooms in Towers are for upperclassman only. If you have a medical disability then you may be able to get one though.

Should I set Towers 3 as my first choice even though Burnett hasn't accepted me yet?

From what I remember, this is the part that got fouled up with my son ... wouldn't allow him to put choices in as far as the Towers. So, when I called housing to ask about it, I told them he was in Burnett ... and they said, "oh, then it doesn't matter about the choices. Once you fill out the honors housing form with Burnett, it's handled separately. So, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and put your choices in. If you get into Burnett, they'll put you in Tower 3 anyway. And, if you don't get into Burnett, they'll use the choices you've put down. I do know that not all of Tower 3 is reserved for Honors, or at least, it wasn't this past year.

zebes, sure that's clear as mud ... :)

zebes - so there were non honors students in Tower 3 this year??? My daughter is not in honors and does not want to be but, all her friends are in honors. She really mixes better with the more academic types and I believe as such she would do better in Tower 3. She is putting Tower 3 down as one of her choices and we will see if they have open spaces available for non honors students.

Yeah, I'm sure my son said that there are non-honors kids in Towers 3. You cannot be in the same suite as those in honors, but I believe only certain floors were reserved as honors. Not sure how many honors kids are staying in Towers 3. I know my s and 2 of his suitemates are moving to towers 4 so that they can have a 4th friend who's not in honors live with them. He was already in towers 4, but his suitemates were "hardier partiers" than he was ... so not a good fit.

Perhaps housing would be able to give you an idea of what percentage of the Tower is usually honors?

i had a tour and they said that this year (07-08) it was mixed, but for 08-09 tower 3 will be all honors.

Oh well, I wonder if she should switch her third choice to Tower 2 or if she didn't get choice 1 or 2 what would they do? Tower 2 is the least desirable only because it is the furthest from class...an additional 6 min walk I think. Does anyone know if Knightros (the cafeteria in the convocation center)is open yet or if it will be open by summer?

A week ago Knightro's wasn't open. Had a sign ... opening soon, I think. Anyway, it was supposed to be open last Aug., and then it was supposed to open at the beginning of this semester ... I see a trend. <g> I would imagine it should be open by summer. My s did not have a mealplan in the Towers. We offered him a choice; he chose a certain amount that he was to budget between on-campus eating and groceries. All of his roommates started out with meal plans. By week 2, two of them had dropped theirs ... within the allotted time you could still drop. Too far to walk across campus to the other dining hall. The third one kept a meal plan, but he downsized. S is going to evaluate whether he'll use Knightro's enough to make it worthwhile, and will adjust accordingly. </g>
