My daughter called to tell me that the entire campus of UCF is being shut down tomorrow in anticipation of Tropical Storm Fay. Her sorority recruitment has also been cancelled for the day.

There's an article on their website. Some activities may also be canceled Wednesday, but that decision will be made later. Tuesday's orientation was also moved to Friday.

By Thursday the storm is supposed to be in at least Jacksonville -- my city -- so the first real move-in day should be fine... just soggy.

Now that it looks like Fay's going to strengthen to be a hurricane, maybe for real this time, do you think this may impact Thursday move-in? Most models have the storm headed to Jacksonville, but is that still close enough to close the campus? I know there were two other NOAA models that had Fay going straight through central Florida again.

I understand UCF opening tomorrow, but I can also see it closing Thursday. They still put central Florida in the "cone of uncertainty" for Thursday.

The 8AM NOAA no longer has Fay becoming a hurricaine but it is closer to Orlando now.

It will be a wet and windy move in. You may consider waiting until Friday or Saturday when you are less likely to get soaked.
