I keep seeing posts like FSU is better than UCF in so and so, go to UF rather than UCF for this or that. So , What exactly is UCF a good school for? HELP?

—Bump—

UCF has a good engineering program–second to UF in the state. UCFs computer science is good too, but UF and FSUs are ranked higher. In general though, UF and FSU > UCF, but it really just depends on your interests and preferences. I grew up in Central Florida, and UCF was locally known as “U Can’t Finish” due to the overcrowding and scheduling difficulties. However, UCF is a great deal if you happen to live in Central Florida and can commute. If you are planning to live on campus, I’d recommend UF or FSU, unless UCF gives you money.

Is that the only reason to go to UCF - if you want to do engineering, because I don’t. I want to do Pysch, Journalism or a Science… Any school suggestions?

Remember–UCF is a former technical college that was created mainly to train engineers to for work at the Kennedy Space Center, and the surrounding industry. It was later expanded to a full university, but its strongest program remains engineering.

I think UF has the only dedicated Journalism school in Florida. FSU has a very good Communications school. I believe that there is some overlap between Journalism and Communications, but I’m not sure of the specifics.

Both FSU and UF appear to have highly ranked Psychology schools-they are about even here. UCF has a psychology program, but it doesn’t appear to be ranked very highly. I’m sure it’s fine, but UF/FSU have a significant edge here. As far as “Science” goes, you’ll have to be more specific :)
