UChicago Class of 2011 Early Decisions Thread

Ah, I see. slaps forhead

alright, while we're waiting..

which prompt did you do, and what did you write about?

I did the Cartesian Coordinates prompt, but I changed it in my response to a Polar Coordinate function, and i was something like r(t) = 3.5e^3.5t

It was a spiral.

I did #4 too.

I'm sorry to be a b*tch here, but could we keep this thread as the official decisions thread and not clutter it up with other stuff before Monday comes around? I know my posting in here isn't helping any either, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having this thread if we go completely off-topic...

Anyways, since I'm here, congratulations to bendrumfront! Hopefully the rest of us will be able to follow-up with your acceptance come Monday. :)

that doesn't sound bizarre at all..

I guess it was just different than most peoples, who gave actual numbers. I just described the behavior.

Metonymy-
I think we should start another thread tomorrow that can be just for decisions...but then again, knowing the tendencies of this forum, I'm guessing that won't happen! lol. Besides, the title of this thread should specify EA. Anyway...GOOD LUCK everyone! I'm sure you'll all do great, and even if you get deferred you can still get in RD! Good luck!

congrats to bendrum...why'd u get your decision early? did u call?

no you can't call, people who live in Illinois got their decisions yesterday.

bendrum- I love the Ideas issue! I've only gotten partway through the alphabet though. Once I'm on vacation I'll sit down and read the whole thing.

I made a new thread, so use this one for random comments and post your results on the new one! its called "Offical University of Chicago Class of 2011 Early Action Results"

Your new thread is all stats-y. Please, let's be cooler than the other boards and do something more interesting.

keep the stats, because even though other uncommon factors do play a role in uchicago admissions, stats are still important. the thread is good, but maybe we could add something. someone suggested before, your favourite line in your essay?

How about we share the essays we wrote? Most of ours are probably done or already sent in and there have been previous threads like it. It could help us get to know our (maybe) future Chicago classmates and help the future applicants on their essays.

does everyone agree on the "favorite line" idea?

Maybe make a seperate essay sharing thread. But not until I get a decision. And make sure everyone realizes that it could be plagiarized.

i'm not posting my essay, but i'll def go with the favourite line idea.

so, unless there are any seriousl objections, ky9742 please add a request for your favourite essay line to your "Offical University of Chicago Class of 2011 Early Action Results" thread.

then again, if there are objections, well, those people can just leave it blank!

i love the favorite line idea.

Well, the letters have arrived in NJ. I just drove the envelope to my son at school after texting him to meet me in the parking lot--he's in and thrilled beyond words. The acceptance letter is beautifully written and sooo U of C.
I don't think he'll post stats here and I don't feel right (as a parent) posting on the official thread so here is a bit of his stuff--
GPA W4.3?? UW 4.0
SAT CR 750 M770 (best of 2 test dates)
Rank top 1% ( school won't divulge #s)
APs as allowed by the school
Essays: I saw them after he sent them --heartfelt, vivid, but not his best writing --I think he had too much to say at once and couldn't get it on paper in a stream--came out in one giant bolus on paper.

After lurking here, I know he is going to love you guys--he's so lucky to get to spend 4 years with you.

I wish each of you the best of luck and great happiness!

In!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite line: I wish I were your derivative so that I could lie tangent to your curves.
