I was wrong and apparently everyone on the waitlist gets the offer. My D hadn’t read all the way through. Have no idea of stats related to how many people accept or are given spots though.
Waitlisted with option for gap year. How does it work though? Can I still go to other university? Or should I take an official GAP year and not study anywhere?
*prays the tables do turn *
I was also waitlisted! I’m still excited cause I thought I would be rejected for sure!
Could somebody pls explain to me what the Gap Year option is? IDK if D received that option. Guaranteed admission in 2019?
@momo2x2018 It’s not guaranteed. It’s basically asking if they want you to be considered for the guaranteed option:) From what I’ve seen every WL applicant gets the option:)
@Ashtash Thanks. I don’t think I understand…You mean accepting Gap Year is a guarantee admit for 2019? That’s a good option if it’s guaranteed…
@momo2x2018 The option they give us asks if we want to be considered for the class of 2023 and take a gap year. It’s not saying we are being offered guaranteed admission. I imagine they’ll send the offers out to those who indicated they wanted to be considered when they send out the admission offers to those waitlisted that they wish to admit. It makes more sense when you read it on the portal:)
@Ashtash Thanks. Just read D’s letter and if does not offer Gap Year option just WL
Daughter waitlisted! Honestly, that was better than expected. Congrats to all that got in! =D>
It’s not in the letter. Click on “respond to waitlist offer” and it says it there
My daughters been waitlisted to every college she applied - MIT, WashU, JH, and now UChicago. Still waiting on a few others but seems odd to be waitlisted by so many?
@momo2x2018 In order to see the gap year offer, you have to click on “respond to waitlist offer” as wannagotovandy indicated:) it’s a hyperlink that will allow you to accept both the waitlist offer and the 2023 consideration if your D desires to do so
Both my daughters were accepted. Congrats to everyone!
@happyhorton There was a guy on here (or maybe on another website, I don’t remember), and he got WL at about 9 schools and ended up getting into every single one. It was insane
^Extremely rare
Waitlisted (2017) → Rejected (2018) after gap year. I know at 2% RD I can’t really say I’m surprised, but I’m confused as to why I didn’t at least get waitlisted.
@chessplayer101 The pool gets more selective every year. You may have been just on the cusp. Also maybe they don’t offer waitlist if it’s your second time applying
So you accepted the gap year offer?
How did that work?
@happyhorton I was also waitlisted from JHU and UChicago today. Not sure how common it is for others but its not totally unusual
