UChicago EA Applicants 2018

What is it with you and milkshakes, Omar‽

nice interrobang you got there, fireballs

Hey I’m not sure if I’m going against the D rule, but will there be a thread where people posts their… D’s? Like the ones where you post your results and your gpa, sat etc. I alwys wondered if one of us has to step out and post it or whether there are mods who do that…

i think it’s up to us, i think we should wait til d day morning though to avoid temptation

Heh. Maybe we should think of a new name for this rule.

We can all empathize with each other about the feelings while waiting for these decisions and while that is technically what this thread is all about, let’s try not to stress each other out anymore!

@fireballs HAHA couldn’t help but snicker at that one

So for the past 2 weeks or so, I kept on trying to figure out when the EA application results would be announced, sorry to bring up the “D” subject, and I completely neglected the prospects.uchicago.edu website!

I spent the past two weeks just pretty much looking around until I landed on College Confidential, a website I told myself I was going to try and avoid completely. I’ve read close to everything you guys have written here. Wow! You guys sure seem like super cool people!

Since you guys keep on saying it’s never too late to join, here I am! I must say, I’m pretty impressed with some of your guys’ Spanish. I’m Mexican and am fully proficient in Spanish. I tutored my friend in Spanish for 3 years, and he ended up earning some award for it (forgot the name) and got into UPenn ED. I personally am not so happy with the way that the educational system works in regards to teaching language, so ironchariot’s initiative is pretty remarkable. It sure sucks that your classmates find you “too smart” for them.

And to work myself into the conversation, given the subject that languages are cool, I speak three/four languages. Spanish, English, Modern Hebrew, and Biblical Hebrew. I am not the most fluent, but am able to sign some American Sign Language. I’m also trying to learn Portuguese and/or French, although I’m lagging a bit in those two departments given the fact that I end school at 4:45PM and have XC, soccer, or tennis practice (depending on the season) everyday after school, and then the non-athletic EC’s get in the way -_-

@footies Welcome to the forum! I’m glad you weren’t totally scared away from all of us haha. Wow, you speak Spanish, English, and Hebrew? You aren’t a Jewish Mexican, are you?

Well, considering you guys all seem so friendly it was hard to get scared! (:

I am a Jewish Mexican! Quite a bit of people end up surprised by that fact.

@footies muchas gracias! and welcome, glad we didn’t scare you too much

For whatever it’s worth, I speak English extremely well. (Sarcasm)
I hope the fact that I’m from Chicago means something

@carter001 I think uchicago is similar to Harvard in that it favors students from Chicago and Boston respectively! So it does mean something

when will the EA results come? I read 'mid december, so will it be 12-14, 15, 16 and how - email, snail mail?

@footiesc7

I guess I’m late to the party too :frowning:
For whoever started that topic earlier, I’m an international applicant! I’m from India.
I speak english really well, though I also speak Hindi and sanskrit (not too fluent in that)
I’ve always wanted to learn more languages1 I tried to teach myself spanish a while back, and I can understand it a bit but only the very basic stuff, I’m not fluent
I’m up for the hug club too! yay hugs!! And yay milkshakes:D

awesome yay hug club and milkshakes!
