UChicago EA Applicants 2018

Je peux y essayer mais il est 1:25 heure a.m. et je suis tres fatigue :stuck_out_tongue: and my french is really really bad anyways, haha.

I am working on an english paper… Too much work and too little time, always (sad sad face

@daisy STORY. OF. MY. LIFE.

lit papers are the bane of my existence.

il est aussi une heure et demi ici, en MA. j’espere que tu as un bon repos! bonsoir…et un autre jour a passe…dieu merci!

I know this is a UChicago thread but I got accepted to Lewis and Clark College I’m guessing a few days ago!? It’s no U of C and I probably won’t go there but at least I’ll have something to make me happy if Wednesday turns out to be dreadful. Did you guys EA to any other schools?

congrats carter, no ea for me anywhere else

i EA’d to fordham (got in yayyy) and babson and northeastern (finding out tomorrow, 3pm, wish me luck!) and georgetown and uchicago (finding out monday and wednesday).

lots of schools! all i really care about is uchicago and georgetown though. if i could hug the institution i would…

Congrats Carter! UChicago or not, it’s still an accomplishment! For me this is the only EA school. It’s my first choice, and pretty much my only one so yeah…

@fireballs.

@ultrachromatic I love Muse too! I want to go to one of their concerts so badly. My favorite songs are Futurism and Stockholm Syndrome. :)

Your discussions in French reminded me of my project on medicine for the French class. I guess I have something to take my mind off the “D”. (hehe…this sounds weird)

Also, Congratulations to those of you who were admitted already! :)

I applied to a bunch of schools RD, uchicago is my main one.

Didn’t apply anywhere else EA, and I have a bunch of places left to apply RD.

aaaah does anyone have this? http://bookpickings.brainpickings.org/post/69799633310/conversations-with-kurt-vonnegut-we-have-such</a> I’m dying to read it!! Found it online, but its so expensive here? blah. How annoying.
Plus, if anyone needs help staying off the forbidden topic (even in your minds) check out [Brain Pickings](http://www.brainpickings.org/) it has cool stuff :D

So what do you guys think? e-readers or the real thing? I’m torn. I love the feel of real books, and THEIR SMELL (I know that sounds creepy). E readers just don’t have that.
(Sorry for randomly throwing in this topic :P)
Thoughts, anyone?

@crazychic E-readers do not give me the real feeling of reading. I love how books smell (so if you are creepy, I am too) and I really enjoy turning the page one by one. If I try reading on any type of screen I get tired really fast. This applies to fiction. I find more useful to read science books on e-readers because I can find information faster.

I love my old nook :stuck_out_tongue: just because I’m cheap and with the nook I can find books free online haha. But I totally agree with loving the “feel” of books, I have to switch back to them sometimes :p

I love old books. With their yellow pages and old-book smell, turning each page feels like I’m slipping into the book a little bit. digital screens just can’t absorb you like that. I think reading e books just isn’t as enjoyable.

@crazychic I once received from someone an old astronomy book. I think it was from the 60s. I think that is the oldest book I have ever came across. It didn’t quite met my expectations regarding the sensation I would have when I was trying to read it :/

@crazychic, I love old books too! The oldest book I have is from 1946 (the book says: 35th year of Republic of China), it’s a book about trigonometry.

I have an old-ish poetry book “listen to the warm” and reading it makes me so happy :)

The oldest book I have is a second edition of the oxford university press’ publication of the twelfth night (that’s not as old as it sounds, it’s from the 1920s). I stole it frm my grandfather’s collection. He has the most amazing book collection ever! <3 He is my favorite person  (not just because of that, of course :P)
