UChicago EA Applicants 2018

Ironchariot is right! If we could keep stats away from this thread that would be great. At this point they really do not matter anymore.

I actually haven’t watched Series 2 yet because I didn’t want to be going crazy over the ending for a year. I was planning to watch it over break, but it might make a nice d-day distraction…

@imp, ah! Good reference, and quite the timing. I offer you the highest of fives.

Oh the link didn’t work because one of the words got edited out of the title. Oh well.

Here’s another one [8tracks radio | 5:34 am (7 songs) | free folk and folk punk music playlist](http://8tracks.com/advaence/5-34-am)

@yalesoon I’m a Whovian! Are you a Nerdfighter?

Ah crap, I got caught in that Window of people saying things and me being on my phone and not answering fast enough. -_-

I’d say that the Reichenbach Fall is the best episode. Thoughts?

Haven’t watched it yet, so I’ll get back to you…On the subject of Doctor Who, I’m on Series 3 but I cheated and watched The Day of the Doctor, and from Tumblr I know pretty much everything that happens through Series 7.

Thanks footiesc7. :D

@seaswallowed I’m not a nerdfighter but that sounds interesting?! :o as long as you don’t fight fangirl d:

@Debater, I happen to be a fan of The Great Game. The fast pace of it just gives me such a thrill.

@footiesc

I must confess that I’d say all of them are pretty great. However, I didn’t really like The Blind Banker.

Obviously impaired by having only seen S1, but I love A Study in Pink. I loved the humor and sarcasm they put in it to introduce us to the characters’ personalities.

@yalesoon Nerdfighters are self-proclaimed nerds who fight to increase awesome and decrease suck in the world. It’s centered around the YouTube channel Vlogbrothers, but many Nerdfighters are Whovians, Sherlockians, Harry Potter fans, etc.

Okay I just looked it up and that’s definitely something I wanna be d:

I’m with you on that one. Hound I’d Baskerville wasn’t so great either. Maybe it’s because it happens to be my favorite book out of the series? It was certainly great, but it didn’t suit me so well. The banker episode, though great, I think left some to be desired from it. It was a bit too erratic for my liking.

My favorite is A Scandal in Belgravia. I love the dynamic between Adler and Sherlock, and the music is amazing.

I, too, am a big fan of Sherlock.

Has anyone here ever watched Peep Show? It’s available for streaming on Netflix - I HIGHLY recommend it.

So I went outside to throw away the trash I thought of an interesting topic. Demographics. Where is everyone here from? It’s just a topic based on nothing but curiosity. Not only will we get to know our possible classmates a tad bettrr, but also interesting to see where the applications are coming from. Although WisconsinDebator is slightly impaired by his name… I’m applying from Southern California. San Diego is not really such a big city, we have terrible transportation, you always have to take a freeway to get somewhere, and it’s a cloud of perfect weather all year round. Our weather for the day was low 55 high 72. It’s not much of a winter, and it sort of scares me but excites me to know I could go to college in the cold. I consider cold being below 60 degrees. Is anyone else here thinking about the weather?

Woah I leave for a couple hours to do homework and I come back to read 5 pages of new CCers, philosophical discussion, and multiple violations of the D! (Yes, talking about stats breaks the rule because it causes emotional distress to others…essays are pretty borderline because all those philosophical and reference-rich essay topics are super intimidating to other applicants who wrote their essays in the hours before the deadline or simply do not have the wealth or well-read-ness that other CCers have)

Anyhoo, British actors be DA BOMB

@footies Chicago is exactly like Massachusetts except for the super windiness. I visited in April and froze my butt off from the wind chill. I could NEVER imagine living in temperate and warm conditions all year round. Cold is like under 40 degrees hahah. But in the summer it can reach above ~100 degrees. So mostly I’m just used to sporadic and unpredictable weather. One day it’s 75 and the next its 32 with freezing rain

YAY NEW ENGLAND.
