UChicago EA Applicants 2018

I’m from the Bay Area, California, where people complain about 60 degree weather.

Do any of you guys know the UChicago’s EA acceptance rate? I’ve searched and searched but I can’t seem to find an answer.

I visited during the summer, and I thought the weather was quite pleasant. It was more on the humid side, but I enjoyed it. Then I was told the weather was never like so and that I picked the best week to visit the city because it had been a while since the weather had been that pleasant. Someone told me I should have visited during Winter, that way I would have for sure felt the cold and been able to experience “Chicago weather.”

@SeaSwallowed my school takes a road trip every year at the beginning of the school year and we always go up north towards that area. I was certainly complaining more about the fog than the temperature…

@carter 13.38% according to NYTimes

@carter, I think that it varies per year. I’ve been told that it depends on the pool of applicants. Sometimes the majority of the students come from the EA and sometimes it’s the other way around. Considering the type of people the University attracts, it makes sense for it to fluctuate depending on the applicants. I think it boils down to whether they find enough of us weirdos at the EA stage or not.

Haha, I’m in AZ! I go to one of the worst high schools in the state where grade deflation is greater than Harvard! I’m surrounded primarily by hispanics and blacks so not too much diversity where I’m at. The lowest we’ve gotten is 20 in the morning and 50 during the day; other than that, it feels pretty nice here. The Grand Canyon is overrated so other than that, there’s nothing to do here. We should plan a CC date to Navy Pier if we get the good “D”!

i freakin love navy pier! not gonna comment on the d though

I’m from Florida! Pretty crappy town (my mom calls it the armpit of Florida) and when it gets under 70 we put our jackets on and cry soo I’m a little worried about how I’ll adjust to the weather haha

Anyone else thinking about rowing in college?

I’m actually live north of Chicago, so I’m used to the weather. I imagine that winter on campus is beautiful.

@footsie I’m inland, and we don’t get any fog on that side of the tunnel. But I agree with you; the morning fog is quite annoying in San Francisco.

@carter001 i’ve always wanted to start up rowing! it seems like such a cool sport and i have pretty good upper body strength. i’m thinking about joining my community rowing club in the spring actually!

I can’t take this. Tomorrow I’m gonna trick the Admission guy that answers the phone into telling me my decision . I’ll let you guys know how it works out lol

I’m actually from Chicago, so I’ve gotten to enjoy the weather for the past 18 years.

Good luck, carter.

If it works, tell me how you did it. I’d prefer to know my decision before finals.

guys it won’t work. it says on the website that decisions will only come in the portal on d day. nowhere else and not before d day.

I’m sorry I posted my stats. I didn’t know we weren’t suppose to. I only read the page before the one I posted on. Is there a way I can delete my old one?

Also, @carter, what’s your plan?

@WD don’t worry, it’s kinda an unofficial rule not to talk about decisons aka the d until d day on wednesday bc it stresses us all out even more

@WD no need to worry about what’s in the past. i’m sure most people who stumble onto this thread won’t read that far back anyway!

and carter, i like your plan! but i’m not a crafty enough phone conversationalist to bring about such a response sigh

hi guys!

i’ve been casually stalking this thread for a while now (my resolve finally broke and i came on college confidential to wait with everyone else for the D (i really wanted to say that)). anyways, you all seem really awesome, congrats to whoever got into schools already!

about me (lol introductions are so difficult): i am a super fangirl from central jersey and there’s several inches of snow outside right now, so i can only imagine how pretty the white holiday season would be from the chicago campus.
