LOL just waiting for that rejection at this point
@yac Same. After getting straight up rejected from my ED school, there is no way I’m getting in EA at Chicago.
Is it even possible to switch to ED 2?
@AllyssXx YEAH same
UChicago man, I love you but you’re slow. Like everybody else is at the party and you’re still picking out clothes. It’s not the kind of late that is “fashionable” but downright annoying. By the time we get there everybody else is going to already be paired up and having a good time. And this is an important party. It’s the party of the year. It’s the party that last year’s class and the class before them and the class before them from the beginning of time hyped up. So for years I’ve been waiting to go to this party and discover what it’s like but you’re just taking your time. Of course, I want you to look your best and make all the correct attire decisions because that’s what everyone loves about you, the care and creativity you inspire, but common man can’t it be quicker. Everybody is talking about the party and it feels like I could reach out and capture the electricity right out of thin air, but I can’t. I need you to be my portal into the party. It’s a waiting game that I know you’re going to win because I’ve already been driven to insanity. The party lasts for a long time so in reality you don’t need to rush and I know I tried to entice you by explaining how much I’ve learned to enjoy the ride and not get caught up in the ends but I have to make an exception here. I just want to get to this party, man.
Sorry guys I just really want the decision to come out and I don’t want to study for finals rn.
Just a question to FA. If it is need blind school, why there is a question ask if you are applying needed base FA or not? Do the admission office see that question on the application form?
I think it’s because they allow people who apply for need-based aid to waive the application fee.
Not clear the AC sees that ^^ question or knows that the FAFSA applicants got their application fee waived. But TBH, I’ve always been a bit skeptical about any private institutoin being truly “need-blind”. Maybe someone can clarify or correct.
@drewharrahill - your point is eloquently presented, but you do realize that releasing decisions around the third week of December is not exactly new for UChicago? Just like Gandalf, an admission decision is never late - nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to.
I found out I was deferred from BC…I guess we can say I will be downright rejected from UChicago At this rate, I honestly doubt I’ll even get into college.
loll @JBStillFlying2
Sandy12345, did you visit BC? Sometime if you didn’t visit, they don’t like it.
I think U Chicago has to wait for all the other schools’ ED result come out, and then for those who got in to the other school’s ED would withdraw from U Chicago’s EA, then U Chicago will look at the EA list and see what to do. I think that is the reason that it is late.
I got a decision this afternoon.
@medrunner1998 lol good one
@medrunner1998 stop trolling!
I’m an international student from China, and from my experiences last year I saw a lot of Chinese students who got accepted by ED to another school, such as Columbia, Upenn, and Williams, didn’t withdraw their UChicago EA application. The annoying thing is that they just want to see if they had the ability to get into UChicago to prove themselves. The other reason is that their college counselling company (which is a universal practice among Chinese applicants) didn’t want to lose an opportunity to advertise about their student’s acceptance to UChicago if that person got accepted.
This is the case in China. Depressing. Don’t know about how it is in the US.
I know a lot of Chinese are not following rules in their country, even driving on the street, no rule at all. I think here in US, people are honest and follow rules.
@102610 Yes, one part is not following rules. According to ED agreement an accepted applicant should “immediately withdraw” other schools’ applications. But a bigger reason is that the cutthroat competition among Chinese students develops a culture that some of us want to “take advantage of” any opportunity to demonstrate their excellence, though they don’t need this opportunity. I don’t want to be critical, but it is “an inconvenient truth.”
@Poeny2015 No I didn’t but according to my counselor, they don’t track demonstrated interest…
I know my friend got into UPenn ED and she won’t withdraw her application to UChicago cuz she wants to see if she could get into Uchicago… I don’t wanna tell her to withdraw but inside I do cuz I applied here EA and I want a better chance than the 0% chance I currently have of getting accepted. LOL
