Does anyone know WHEN Uchicago posts decisions on Monday? I really cannot wait
@yac, I believe your friend should withdraw, especially if required by her ED agreement with UPenn. Otherwise the UPenn acceptance may be withdrawn. Not sure whether the schools communicate about such things, but it would be easy enough to do in the electronic age with all the time it is taking to get decisions out. Could this be a reason for the delay? Good luck on your own application!
I so sick and tired of these people trying to wait for their EA decisions even though they got into an ED! Can someone literally call in UoC and notify them about this problem?
will they only consider EA applicants if someone withdraws
I feel like UChicago knows that this happens but kinda ignores it… yeah someone could call into admissions and be like “yellooooo ED children are still in your systemmmm like BROOOO”
Hope UChicago admissions is following this thread . . . although guessing they are very aware of the problem and have factored that into the number of acceptances. With EA there is going to be some flexibility because they can always cut short the number of RD’s so that the class size isn’t too big.
someone pls call in u chicago and tell them that!
They already made the decisions, -a few people withdrawing isnt going to make them pull out apps and start admitting. They defer most EA anyway and with ED those will be the majority of acceptances
but how do you know that tho?
@banana72 Most high-ranking schools fill a large percentage of their class during the early rounds, especially early decision.
Doubt I’ll get in. Applied EA and nervous to hear back soon. It’s just a shame cause I spent so much time on UChicago’s supplements.
Do you think it’s too late to change my app from EA to ED?
@Dartmouth_21 they do not defer most EA.
@cisobelm I am afraid so.
@kingrex16 I know but how does @Dartmouth_21 know that withdrawals from the EA pool (or lack thereof) won’t cause them to admit additional people through EA/ED
He doesn’t? He hasn’t given proof so …
UChicago is unlikely to change its EA decisions based upon withdrawals because they have been doing EA for a long time and can factor in that that some students don’t immediately withdraw after being admitted ED elsewhere.
They can estimate this year’s EA yield (by taking last year’s EA yield and bumping it up a few points due to UChicago’s rise in stature) and determine how many to accept EA based upon the expected yield.
@hebegebe thank you!
I suspect EA yield will go down significantly this year with the addition of an ED option.
uchicago needs to hurry lmao
