what do you guys think the early action acceptance rate was this year?
Deferred! honestly I’m just surprised/happy that I wasn’t outright rejected

How are people checking their status without any email?
Deferred. It hurts a lot more than I thought it would

But then again, there are a very small amount of people who use college confidential that are applying to UChicago so we can’t really assume that everyone is either accepted or deferred from EA or ED ya know what I mean?

@cbphysics99 I submitted another ‘why uchicago’ essay that i wrote about how being deferred actually made my mind that uchicago really was the perfect place for me. i fell in love more with the school and i was willing to work for it. i also kept in touch with my admission counselor. you’ll get some canned emails before you really get to talk to them, but you need to keep reminding them that uchicago is your #1 (if it really is, otherwise, i wouldn’t waste their time!) they care about yield, so let them know that if you are accepted, you WILL attend. also, ask if you could apply early decision II if you are deferred. idk how that works, but it is worth a shot! also send them an updated resume and let them know what you’re doing in school or awards you’re winning in an email. don’t make them scratch their heads to see if you are worth it. prove it to them! good luck!

@repibliksesel Deferreds can definitely get their applications switched to ED II.
