FinAid seems to have their **** together.

For those who were waitlisted...
I just called in
Me: I just found out that my final transcript will be available only after June 12... Is it OK if i send it in that late?
Them: Yes, it's fine.
Me: But decisions are supposed to be made by June 15, right?
Them: That date is wrong.
Me: So when the decisions will be coming out?
Them: Probably, no earlier than next month.

That shouldn't be surprising, since EA/RD have until at the earliest Jun15 - I smell an extension again.

i still didnt even get the credit eval by MAIL

i think we deserve an extension

Well, not earlier than next month sounds more like mid-July ))
Man, this delay creates SO much trouble for me with regard to visa issues... i'm afraid i will not be able to attend EVEN if I get in just because i will not have stupid visa on hands....

I am slowly turning green and will soon go to Chicago and yell "Hulk Smash" and destroy everything but the Economics, History, and Mathematics deparments. I'm sick of this.

aletheia: Did you tell them about your visa issues? If not you definately should as they will take that into consideration and look at yours first or something.

ninja edit:
bball87: NO MORE EXTENSIONS!!!

I have to agree with bball87. I have received absolutely nothing in the mail, and the "June 15" reply-date is less than a week away. I think that maintaining that would be unfair, to say the least, especially when finances are of a big concern.

Of course (on the other hand), I do sympathize with everyone waiting for waitlist acceptances. It's just an overall unpleasant situation....

jacknjill, yeah, i told them... well, they said in any case they needed my final transcript first... i'm afraid it will not arrive there earlier than the end of June (

It's just amazing to witness the repercussions one child's case of the chicken pox can have.

lol. It would make sense if the whole committee had chicken pox. Actually, that would be quite funny.

How long should a waitlisted student's letter be? Obviously the content matters the most, but I'm sure a single paragraph/5 pages isn't preferred. I have over 1.5 pages (900 words), this should be ok right? I originally thought 1 page is best, but it ended up like this...:/

When I called the admissions office for the second time inquiring about my lack of acceptance materials, I asked the secretary if the problem might be to the fault of an incorrect address or other such error. She insisted it was not without double-checking, which suggests that they are still quite aware that they haven't sent everything out that they said they have or would.

It's just one thing after another thing after another thing. You would've thought they'd amend their ways after months of this....

1 and 1/2 pages is probably a bit too long in my opinion. I tried to be as concise as possible and I fit it in at a page with 3 paragraphs totalling about 300 words. They don't need another essay, and they would probably appreciate the conciseness.

Also, remember who we're dealing with. Their house is upside down. I wonder if they will even read what I sent them!

Ahhh... What a just dessert that would be! jk :D

I agree with you. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make it that small :( Its downt o 650 and I think I'm going to send it off like that. The way I look at it, I've spent this much time and effort on Chicago, the least they can do is spare a minute more than usual. But in Chicago times that is probably like a week. So sorry for potentially delaying the waitlist process guys.

Nah.. Don't worry about that. Chicago is gonna take the time Chicago is gonna take, even if you write them ten pages. :-)

Wow...I just got my packet in the mail. The deadline on the deposit slip still says June 1, but the acceptance letter is dated June 8. Which was the Thursday before the 15th. Eh.

Chim: It's the 15.

i think I am attending UChicago after much deliberations...its not final yet, but i think for now.

REALLY?

That's a big turn around.

I am sending in my deposits Monday. I'm kind of sad that my Core SOSC is gone - I wanted to take Mind! :P

but that could prob change to Northwestern really quickly or a remaining at Cornell....i am very capricious witht this

It seems like you've got a lot of really great options, bball87.
