<p>I got off the waitlist last Friday through a phone call, and my regional admissions officer said they are only going take a few more people off the wait list soon</p>

<p>@asheik Congratulations! What did they say to you when you answered? Also, did they specify just how many more few they are going to admit?</p>
<p>I’m committing at NYU Stern. Yeah, I just sent an email which I spent a really long time writing. I’ve always dreamed of going to UChicago, but at this point I just want to know if I should still hold on to any hope. </p>
<p>@UChicago Should we send our final transcript if we’re still waiting to hear back about our position on the wait list?</p>
<p>They just asked me if I was still interested and if I had committed to any other schools, and after I said yes and no, they offered me a spot in the UChicago class of 2018. :D</p>
<p>They didn’t exactly specify how many more people they were going to take, they just said they already picked more than half of the people they need from the waitlist. Funny thing is the only thing I sent was a short letter of interest in March, I did not do nearly enough IMO to get off. </p>

<p>Well looks like from the statistics here we should have sent the email back in March when we clicked the waitlist acceptance 
as these students were called in early April before making a deposit else where from what I’m reading on these boards. I don’t know why they say majority of waitlist get notified in mid May…of course majority is a key word though seems like ones called were called in early April.

Don’t lose hope just yet - I was just notified that I’d been offered admission off the waitlist today, and I’d only sent a letter out to them in the past week or so. They’re still taking people now.</p>

<p>Yep, I put down a deposit at Northwestern 2 days ago, but UChicago’s my #1 choice right now.</p>
<p>Why would they tell us that we will be notified in May when already half of the waitlist accepted were notified in April :(</p>

<p>My son was accepted off of the wait list yesterday. He was thrilled and so are we. I felt, after reviewing the situation there wouldn’t be a chance but it came through. Good luck to all! He had already accepted and deposited at WASHU but now we are headed to UChicago for a final look to confirm he wants to switch.</p>
<p>How many days UChicago gives us to confirm from the time they call us ?</p>
<p>I made an enquiry, and was told that a small number of offers have been made to waitlist students, but that they expect the majority of offers will be made after May 1. Don’t give up hope… I’m not!</p>

<p>I don’t know who roguered talked to, but Mr. Follmer, director of admissions, told me the committee had already selected and notified a majority of the people they needed from the waitlist. Then again, people from the waitlist could have rejected the offer, so there’s that.</p>
