UCI Arroyo Vista Housing for Freshman year

I’m deciding between the residence halls (ME/MC) or Arroyo Vista. Right now, I’m really leaning toward Arroyo Vista because it’s half the price of the residence halls. I know that the dining halls are a bit further away and that it’s far enough that we have to take the shuttle to classes, but I’m just wondering if I might be really missing out on the college experience and meeting people if i do this? I’m not a major social life person, but I still don’t want to feel isolated. Is it very hard to meet people in AV?

I don’t think Freshman can apply to Arroya Vista. I think Arroya Vista is reserved for continuing undergrads and transfer students only.

Freshman can apply to Arroyo Vista, Campus Village, and ME/MC this year because there are so many of us that they have to open up AV and CV to roughly 600 freshman.

I’m deciding between Arroyo and Campus Village… I was thinking CV, but then I heard that it’s old/dirty/hot as a thousand suns in the spring, so I started to reconsider. Arroyo has more people, so I’m a little worried about getting peace and quiet

@sebethpin is CV really in that condition? I am deciding between CV and the Residence Halls which one to put for first choice… now I might have to add AV to that list lol

@WinnieH, that’s what I heard on the uci subreddit when someone asked about it. I asked for more information, but no one’s gotten back to me yet… I’m still keeping it in mind though //shot
