^I don't think there are chancelors scholarships this year. Someone out in cyberland please let me know if I'm wrong.

UCI decisions come out in batches right? At least that's what I've heard from my classmates.

I applied Business Admin with quite decent stats, and I didn't get an e-mail from UCI; I was rather disappointed until I found out another girl with very high stats who applied under Business Admin didn't get anything either.

Most under bio, chem, or engineering got theirs.. Some got econ and political science. I don't know about anything else.

Do I (or the other girl) still have a chance at regents? Or is ALL regents/chancellors/honors notification sent out already?

I looked up the merit scholarships and apparently they are not offering chancellors because it's not on the list of merit scholarships (it was there last year)

Types of Aid

What is the chancellor's scholarship? For those who have financial need or don't?

I got Regents + CHP and applied for financial aid (need-based).

is there a substantial CHP population on campus? and is this regents scholarship only for UCI, or for UCSD as well?

^UCI forum, UCI Regents

The Campuswide Honors Program admitted its first class of 100 freshmen in fall 1988. The program now maintains an active roster of over 650 students, freshmen through senior year, representing nearly every major on campus. Our first student graduated in June 1991, our first "class" in June 1992. Many of our students continue their studies after graduation at some of the most prestigious graduate and professional schools in the country.

No chancellors this year.

CHP is maybe 5% of a given class.

is CHP the honors program at UCI?

Yes

mmmhmmmm 10 chars

Does Berkeley or UCLA have an honors program?

LA - I think they do.
B - No.

What is the criteria for selection to CHP btw?

I think it's like an overall, holistic view of the applicant. Stats and numbers play into parts as well, but I guess it doesn't count for everything since my friend who has impressive numbers didn't get it. (We are still a bit confused about it because there were some students that got into like Stanford EA and didn't get Irvine CHP/Regents. :T

^Hey that is a good one. I'll let my D know that.

I think it depends on a lot of factors. DD applied for a major that UCI ranks higher than Stanford/UCB/UCLA. Her counselor told her and the NAR ranking confirms it, so my guess is that they need students to keep certain professor happy. I heard the department head was lured from Harvard or Yale.

I agree it must be a holistic view of the applicant (mainly essay) because I got it and I don't have that much of a good stats or numbers.

why are they coming out so soon though?
if we haven't gotten anything from them, is it something to worry about?

Only regents and other scholarships come out early, not regular admission. So if you don't get anything now, it just might mean you'll only be considered regularly, in which the decisions start coming out in March. So don't fret!

Not sure if anyone answered this. Haven't seen any examples of it.

Has anyone gotten Just Regents or Just CHP? Seems to me like they come together as a package.

yeah it is possible to just get regents? like maybe some ppl don't want to do the honors program, but want the scholarship, or is that intertwined?

I guess you could decline the honors program.
