before i begin, here are the specifications of school of nursing admits in 2017:
“Fall 2017 freshman applicants: 2,540
Fall 2017 freshman admissions: 88 (3.5% admitted)
Average UC GPA: 4.25 GPA
Average total SAT score (new version): 1354”
versus MY scores:
Average UC GPA: 4.09 GPA
Average total SAT (new): 1390
*I am currently a senior and will be applying as an undergrad into the nursing school.
One of the questions in the supplementary nursing application asks you to “describe how your prior education and experience have contributed to your future nursing career goals”. In sum, for education, I’ve done a career path class called medical pathologies, a summer course at Brown University called “body at work: anatomy, physiology, pathology”, and taken an extra science class: anatomy/physiology. For experience, I’ve volunteered at a physician’s office, took the role of a nurse’s assistant, and have a leadership/officer position in a health organization (health occupation students of America).
*I will not be connecting how it contributes to my nursing goals as that will take too long.
Regardless I feel that this isn’t enough to be in the top 3% of admitted applicants… especially because I haven’t taken AP bio or chem, just bio/chem honors. Also, my SAT score is BARELY above the current nursing students’ average and my GPA is below. What do you guys think? Do I even have a shot at this school? I’d like some realistic feedback, thank you.
