UCI vs. UCSD Help!

So I’m deciding between UCI and UCSD. I received the same amount of financial aid for both. I am very very very sure that I want to go to law school after undergraduate, so this is my main concern: Which school will help me get into the best law school I possibly can? Here’s my situation -

UCSD
Hoping to double major in Political Science & Economics. But as of now I’m a poli sci major. I would prefer business school, but since UCSD doesn’t have one I figure a double major would be challenging and hopefully make me well rounded. (Plus poli sci & econ are really interesting to me) I know UCSD has a better reputation for academics than UCI, but does this only pertain to science? I’ve also heard that UCSD has a top 10 ranked economics program. But I looked online and read that it’s graduate program was highly ranked, and read nothing about its undergraduate program. For poli sci, I hear that UCSD is ranked really high for undergraduate? Could someone confirm is this is true :D.

UCI
I got into the honors program here. Also got into Business Administration, which is my preferred major. Problem is that I visited UCI and talked to one of the people in charge of the new Paul Merage school of undergrad business and really wasn’t impressed. This undergrad prog. is supposed to have only 125 students out of like 4000 applications and be really selective, but the impression I got after visiting was that the undergrad business school had nothing special going for it other than its selectivity. It started in '08 and I hear that many people try to transfer and can't get in due to such limited spacing. But I'm just not sure if I want to commit to such a new school I don't know much about.

Ultimately I want to know if when I apply to law school they will look at UCSD as a more prestigious school than UCI. I will be happy at either school so the ultimate deciding factor is simply which school is going to help me get into a better law school in the future. Thanks if anyone can help (:

[This thread is almost exactly what you’re looking for](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/907063-law.html)

All that matters to law schools is your LSAT score and your GPA. Go where you think you’ll get the highest GPA. Law school admissions is almost entirely a numbers game for non-Y/S schools. None of the other stuff matters much relative to your stats.

Fwiw, the Political Science program here at UCSD is ranked in the top 10 as well. But like I said, no one cares about rankings, so just choose the school you like more and do well there.

For what it’s worth… I chose UCSD over UCSB (similar tier to UCI) because somewhere in my mind I have hope that it will look better on law school applications. Not saying this is necessarily true but that’s one of the reasons my parents and I thought UCSD was a good fit for me. There aren’t any clear statistics published that indicate whether UCSD or UCI is better for getting into law school.

But seriously, go where you love the environment and the social scene because you are going to be there for 4 years - go where you fit in the best! I hope you visited both campuses because they’re pretty different.

miquemaus - do you know by any chance if the undegrad poli sci program is really competitive? since its in top 10 (like competitive enough to substantially lower my GPA)

and TY for the link & info

ucsandiego915 - Thx for your input, that’s pretty much the same reason i’m considering ucsd haha. and yeah I’ve visited both and surprisingly I like them pretty much equally
