UCI Waitlist Questions

@uvminhcire, were you ever able to recheck what you read?

Alright, well, I was doing some research and for 2012, for people on the wait list, appeals were still accepted even after May 15th.
This is my source: Error;

Sooo I think this means that UCI probably has a wait list appeal system that is like UCR’s after all.

Guessing we should wait this out then before appealing.

yeah i checked on another cc thread from 2010 and it said that you can in fact appeal even if you have been waitlisted. But I also read that in the past, UCI has either accepted all or none of the people on the waitlist. Does that mean that this year, all of us waitlised will either get in or all get rejected? Or was the past simply coincidence?

I believe it is just coincidence. It makes more sense that way.

But I can’t be sure without a direct statement or empirical data of years prior to the last two…

I read somewhere that 2 years ago, UCI was under enrolled so they accepted everyone on the waitlist. Looking at the application numbers this year, I do not think that will happen again.

Does the application number really matter though? Doesn’t it all depend on how many admits SIR?..

@UVminhcire Yes, it depends on how many admits SIR at the school.

@Gumbymom What truly matters for our likelihood of getting into UCI off the wait list is the proportion of the many applications submitted this year that were accepted. If there was a high proportion of acceptances, then chances are, quite frankly, those of us on the wait list are screwed. xD But yes, I do not think that everyone will be accepted off the wait list this year because I think UCI would have learned from two years ago…but I’m still hoping that by some miracle it happens!

Either way, we must not take our decisions personally, keep our fingers crossed, and figure out which other school we are going to SIR at, in case things don’t work out the way we want them to.

If we are waitlisted do you think UCI will provide finacial aid numbers? I am waitlisted and will drop my SIR’ed school in a heartbeat for UCI, granted the money is all there. No way I can afford UCI on my own…

http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2014/fall-2014-admissions-table2.pdf</a>
So the admit rate to UCI this year was pretty low?

.

According to Ms Sun, financial aid will most likely not be ready if and when an offer is made to a wait list person …check out her post on wait list stats and such :slight_smile:

@moniiique

@Lacedwithlacey26‌ thanks! I started to read her blog earlier today since I’ve heard her be thrown around quite a few threads.

My application now says “Application Closed” instead of having the waitlist boxes. I have the “Appeal Pending” for my appeal. Does this mean I got rejected from the waitlist?

Edit: This happened around an hour ago.

I guess? Thats so weird though, since its not May 1st yet. Does this mean that they already know there are no spots left?

But some people got in from the waitlist a couple days ago so idk what to believe…

My friend got in with the waitlist around the same time, so I’m guessing they’re releasing decisions already. Well…I guess my last hope is the appeal :(

Damn, how do they know to reject/accept yet if the SIR deadline is May 1st.

I have no idea. I’m guessing that they already know they’re going to be under-enrolled already?

But if they know that, why would they reject you o.O

What was your gpa/testscore/major if u dont mind sharing?
