UCLA 2023 Waitlist Thread

@uclaplsacceptme6 THANK YOU!! I got in under undeclared life sciences and yes I did the optional essay. Talked about why UCLA was the only school that I could call my home.

I just called the number for the “general inquires and advising” for UCLA which is 1(310)825-3101 in case anyone else wants to confirm. I asked if they knew when decisions were going to be released for freshman waitlist and they told me anytime between May 1-June 1 but they said historically they have gone beyond that. They also told me that this year they purposely under enrolled with the intention of being more purposeful with the waitlist. This means that there is a possibly better (at least slightly) chance of getting off of the waitlist, it all depends on how many students end up enrolled and how many remind their decision to go to UCLA, though. Good luck to everyone else, hopefully we hear back soon! Congratulations, by the way @moochew .

Has any one got off business economics Waitlist?

Does the long wait after 1st May, means that places have already been offered to waitlisted students and waiting for the 3 day deadline to accept SIR and in case they don’t accept, offers will be made to others

I got off the waitlist yesterday, in-state psychology major

does anyone know the chances of getting off the nursing waitlist? currently ranked at 5, freshman BS program but loosing hope:/

@hydrolover4 sorry I don’t have an answer to your question, but how do you find out your ranking on the waitlist?

the director of recruitment emailed me specifically about Nursing. i dont believe UCLA ranks other applicants

Any in-state English majors get off? I’m hoping a decision will come out soon so I know whether to SIR to Cornell or not yet.

I got off the waitlist today! In State for Mechanical Engineering. Im super excited, congrats to all that also got off the waitlist and best of luck to those still waiting! Don’t lose hope, they will keep releasing acceptances up until June 1!

@moochew Stats if you don’t mind sharing? I’m going undeclared too and I feel like it might bring down my chances

anyone get in for bioengineering yet?

Pray for all of us! Don’t lose hope!

@ucboundd My stats are kinda bad tbh
Major: Undeclared Life Sciences
-4.56 Weighted GPA (High School) - also ranked #1 in my graduating class
-1450 SAT
I think what got me in was my optional essay.

I checked my email around 8:40 am and I got off the waitlist! Quite funny because it was during my AP Physics class when we were grading FRQ’s and I started shaking haha

In-state
Pre-Human Biology and Society Major
GPA: 4.62 (Weighted) and ranked #1
SAT: 1280 (quite low, but I think my EC’s and essays saved my butt)

Congrats to everyone who got in! And for those still waiting, please don’t lose hope! It ain’t over till it’s over!

Hey all, I have sent in 2 LOCI’s to the admissions counselor of my region but he hasn’t replied yet. Any indication of my eventual fate???

To all the engineering majors out there, I just want to let you know that the major one picks is at least as important as the school they ultimately attend; I would argue it’s even more important (within reason). Believe me I understand the anxiety and frustration (our family is currently dealing with it as well), but please try to keep this in mind, and good luck to everyone!

My mental health is in the gutter because of college apps. UCLA is my one hope because I foolishly thought I would be fine applying to only ten schools. Each day it’s getting harder to check my email and see nothing for waitlist decisions. I’m an Econ major, 1520 SAT, bilingual, subject tests: 800 us history, 750 English lit. I’m going to end up going to a school that I’m really not crazy about if UCLA doesn’t save me.

I have been patrolling this thread constantly for the past week, and I would be remiss if I didn’t comment myself. I received an admissions offer this morning, 8:30am, for undeclared in the Social Sciences. I will put my stats down because I see a lot of people give no context as to what may have persuaded UCLA to let them in. My SAT was a 1460, 4.15 GPA and I had decent extracurriculars (student ambassador, Boy Scouts, youth council for my city district, and a few other things). I hope everything works out for those still nervously checking this thread!

@Solutus Congratulations! In state or out?
