did anyone who got off the waitlist get into engineering?

Hi! I’m an international student who just got off the waitlist into UCLA for Biology major in the College of Letters and Science. I need some quick advice on which housing I should choose, since the housing application deadline seems to be half a day away… I’d be grateful if someone could give their inputs.

(My main criteria is that the room should be spacious)
Thanks in advance- someone please help

yay!!! just got off the waitlist!! OOS L&S, sent in updated grades and a brief essay!

How is it that they are admitting from the waitlist before the May 1st deadline? Does that mean that they had a lower % yield this year?!

@plzzzadmitme: You will notice that all the admits posting are from out of state. This means that the OOS/International yield so far is lower than expected so they are targeting these applicants.

@Gumbymom Well, couldn’t people still technically SIR within the next few hours before May 1st? I’m just confused as to how they could already be letting people in off the waitlist before May.

@plzzzadmitme: The UC Regents have limited the # of OOS/International applicants that the UC’s can admit. If the #’s are lower than this limit, they will start accepting off the waitlist plus they have historical data to help determine the yield. All UC’s have a low matriculation rate for these applicants since the UC’s offer little to no financial aid so the costs make UCLA unaffordable for many. Not all applicants admitted off the waitlist will SIR in the end.
