well when i called.. they said they gave the postcard to selected applicants? whatever that means.. he wouldn't say if it was for accepted students..

wow....I just found this thread and I went and looked for the postcard from UCLA art department in our mail......and I got one! this thread made my day!

congrats chappa!! hopefully, it means an acceptance. it would be pretty cruel of them to invite us to an open house after a rejection..

"selected applicants"? ha....like that helps. are you guys all planning to attend?

yeah i know..when he said "selected applicants".. i was like.."err..only selected then..okay bye.."

i definitely plan on attending though

bump 10char

i think we should keep this thread alive. there is too much drama in the other threads. haha. sooo...anyone a music major? where are you guys from? I'm from South Bay area.

I talked to UCLA today and was told that the invitation means that the department has approved you, and sent you back to the admissions office to make sure your grades and courses meet UC requirements etc, (code for you're in but i can't tell you for sure until you see it online, but you're in)....so yipeee!

i got into uc irvine already...meaning i am obviously uc eligible. whoo hoo! haha...i like how you analyzed "the code" but thanks for calling...i'm too scared to call. I'm sure they are getting gazillion calls right now. but thanks for sharing!

Well, since I didn't receive the card, and I'm pretty sure I messed up my audition, I'm pretty positive that I won't be accepted to UCLA. I wish they would consider a music applicant's second choice major (mine was music history), since I'm also very passionate about that subject.

I have a question though. The music department lost my application materials and thus did not send me feedback as to whether or not I passed pre-screening. When I called they decided to schedule me an audition anyway, but the whole process was a hassle. I should have changed my major to music history instead of dealing with my lost music application. Is this a legitimate reason to appeal?

Bump? :( (10)

so.. what are the uc requirements?? is it those four years of english, one year of art, etc.?

oh yeah, and what the hell is going on w/ the other threads!? people are going crazy with this admissions process.. i think we're the only normal ones because of our invitations =)

blackandwhite I agree with you!. People are really messing up the threads with redundant junk. I wish more people could find this one who applied to Art.

I don't know the answer to 66afgans question but someone probably does. I would think he might have a good argument for an appeal but I don't know how the appeal process works. Anyone else?

i don't have an answer to 66afghans question...however i think that a lot of current students may have a good answer. Is music history a part of the Music Dept? I thought it was just performance, education, and composition...

Yea...i think we're the "okay" ones because of our invitation and the rather positive response to our calls. :)

Music History is not part of the music dept. but the Letters and Science dept. I am going to appeal the rejection, but any feedback or advice would be great!

UC elligible: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/eligibility.html

You might have to start another thread asking for advice on how to appeal just to get someone else to respond to your question. It's pretty quiet in this thread.

i want the decisions posted NOW! it would be nice to know i got into UCLA officially...

me too!!!!

the LA times article kinda made me feel sucky about my grades and gpa but...i'm sure many, if not all, students accepted to the school of arts and architecture put hours and hours of hard work in their art.
