This may sound really stupid and lame, but I'm really scared of heights and I'm afraid I might roll over while snoozing on the top bunk. I roll out of my own bed at home. :( My roommate also wants the lower bunk so I don't know what else to do but suck it up when quarter and try not to roll and sleep roll/stress-free the next.

Is there another solution (like side rails)?

what you do is get to the room first on move-in to guarantee your spot on the lower bed. or explain this to your roomie (with your logic or your fist, whichever is more effective). good luck!

then you will get the bottom bunk for one quarter. your roommate needs to compromise with you. bruinbee is right it's pretty hard to fall off. i guess if your that concerned you can put some pillows or cushiosn on the ground so the fall wont hurt

Rosedust - We didn't decide yet but I really don't know any other solutions to sharing the bottom bunk. I'm so confused! I really don't want to annoy them either with a bed of pillows on the ground.

My reason is my fear of heights and rolling problem. Ugh. My future husband is going to hate it when he sees that his wife prefers the floor to the bed.

But in terms of this lower bunk sit, any other students out there with a solution for two people fighting over the same bed [anything besides first come first serve]?

We haven't talked yet, I just want some possible solutions if we both have really good reasons for the bottom bunk. Pulling straws/numbers sounds like a really good idea. Haha, I hope she's not like, "IF I DON'T GET THE BOTTOM BUNK, I'LL MAKE YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR A LIVING HELL."

Yeah but , we haven't talked about it yet [but will soon], and I think I have a good reason for the bottom bunk [?]. But thanks for your replies guys, really helps. :)

I have that same fear of heights, but so far one of my roommates already wants a top bunk and I just have to hope the other feels the same.

I don't know if this applies to you, but another reason to want the bottom bunk is if you have a full or large size bed now. I have a full bed and I could argue that my body is used to naturally having room to roll over and I am more likely to fall off the bed. Therefore I should get the bottom bunk. ;)

Haha, if she says that, show her to me >] j/k

But really, it should be okayyy!~ Be happy and um...if you don't get bottom just be glad you have a chance to conquer your fear and make yourself a bed loving wife. :]

I think the switch quarter might be okay though. And if you're stilllll really worried, maybe try and make a compromise with her, like, if you're still dead scared of the top in a week, switch with her and she can get the bigger closet or something? Iunno. :]

Emmeline - Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it and the support. :)

Fiddledd - Haha yeah. I'm too long for my twin sized bed and my feet hang over the bottom. But that's really doesn't make me rollover. I use a body pillow that takes up 50% of my bed space, so that's how I rollover. And I can't sleep w/o it. Hope you get the bottom bunk fiddledd!

Rosedust - I will most definitely! And that sounds like a greatt compromise. :)
