UCLA business Econ vs. Santa Clara U. Business school?

Hi,

I need to decide which college I should go and hope to hear you guys' opinion.

I am accepted by UCLA Business Econ and Santa Clara U. Business school. SCU offered me scholarship which cover two thirds of tuition, enrolling honor program and one of business school program (ACE).

I want to major in accounting and be CPA in the future. SCU business school has good accounting program and their job placement rate is high. Program wise it's good school to go. However, SCU overall is a local college, ranking is not high. Compare to UCLA, UCLA is brand name prestigious school, which make me feel better. UCLA has accounting minor but I don't know how good of UCLA accounting and Business Econ/Accounting's job opportunity? Another concern I have is I am low AA/high B student in high school. If I go to UCLA, I will be so-so student but at SCU, I can be on the top.

Which one would be better for me?

Are you going to work in N. Cal after graduation? If yes, I would go for program over prestige

With 2/3 tuition off, that would make the COA for SCU similar with UC if not lower. But you get a stronger program, small class size, brand new business building, many internship opportunity, high CPA passing rate and the prime location right in the heart of silicon valley for future employment

Disclaim: I’m bias  DD will apply accounting next year, it’s on top of her list, just hope she can get some merit aid it would be no brainer.

grats. im a transfer student that just got rejected by UCLA and waiting for SCU.
Honestly I would go to UCLA because it would open more doors if you wish to pursue something past accounting. Also it’s prestige would help you if you wish to get employed outside the bay area. Since SCU is offering you scholarships it makes the decision much tougher; however at UCLA you will study (biz)econ whereas at SCU you will actually study business. Both programs are great but I would take into consideration the fact that you may wish to work somewhere else or in something else-in which case UCLA would open more doors outside its location (most people outside of CA have never even herad of SCU). gl w/ your decision and let us know what you chose!
