Do you guys know when we will know our status by the latest? According to the Waitlist FAQ, it says no later than June 1, however looking at previous years, it usually goes well into June.
@CaDadof3 The other schools he was admitted to won’t make a difference to UCLA. Don’t mention them.
Thanks Alicantekid. He submitted it without mention of the other schools. It’s now in UCLA’s hands now.
@uclabound2017?
You could call the admissions office after May 1 and see if they’ll give you any stats. One thing that I would note from the FAQs: If an applicant is offered admission off of the waitlist after May 15, then housing is not guaranteed. Campus housing is very tight–it appears from posts on CC that all (or nearly all) Freshmen at UCLA will be offered triples-so I have a feeling that “not guaranteed” could very well mean “no housing.” In my mind, that would be a deal-killer. Therefore, my working model is “admit by May 15 or bust.” The quality of life for freshmen at UCLA doesn’t sound so great compared with some of the other UCs, so it’s not a slam-dunk that we’d take a spot at UCLA if offered, especially at this point.
Luckily for me, I live close enough where commuting is a possibility. Any ideas what is the acceptance rate off the waitlist?
Do you guys know anyone who was offered admission off the waitlist?
Got waitlisted for psych
UCLA is my dream school like many people here and I was devastated that I was placed on the waitlist. I am grateful to be given a second chance though. I hope everyone on here gets off of the waitlist. As of now I have committed to UCSD. Seeing last year’s waitlist thread, I saw someone getting off the waitlist in July… Just hoping for the best. @uclabound2017? I do know someone who was offered admission off the waitlist. She ended up going to UCLA instead of Cal
Hey guys! Do any of you know when UCLA will start notifying people whether or not they have been admitted from the waitlist. I heard that Cal started admitting people last year at the end of April… will UCLA do something similar?
Also, do any of you know what the waitlist admission statistics are for UCLA? I just desperately want to get admitted to either UCLA or Cal (both are universities that I really want to attend!!!)
@lostinlife2021 I believe gumbomom posted about this earlier in the thread. From last year’s thread I saw that May 1st is when UCLA’s waitlist began admitting students from out of state and May 5th is when they admitted waitlist students from in state.
@lostinlife2021:
I am unable to find waitlist stats for 2016 but below is 2015 and 2014:
Waitlist 2015:
Just < 6,000 offers 3,400 opt-ins
500 admits
360 SIRs
Waitlist 2014:
3,700 offers
2,100 opt-ins
150 admits
(120 CA; 30 OOS)
@magopieces Thanks for the reply!! I believe I am an OOS student. So if I don’t hear anything back by the mid-May, should I assume that means I was not admitted off the waitlist?
Guys we have like a week until they let us know! I’m super nervous
Same. How do you know they let us know in a week? Is it for out of state or in state?
I’m not sure but from reading the FAQ for the ucla wait list they will begin telling us May 1- June 1, and from reading past forums some get notified as early as April 30.
@cheerxoxo1999 When you were reading past forums, did you notice any trends in admission (ie. OOS or IS getting admitted first, by major/by college)?
Got waitlisted too. What do you guys think about calling the AO to appeal? Will it work? I know it’s more like lottery but I still dont wanna lose hope.
@oligixarxx I believe I saw on the UCLA website or FAQ, that if you are waitlisted, you may not appeal because your admission offer isn’t “finalized” yet. Therefore, only students who got rejected may appeal… Besides, I read from my past forums that the appeal process is very rigid and very difficult to prove that you have a good reason and that you deserve my admission. I think just waiting out the waitlist will give you a higher chance of getting in
