I have an unweighted GPA of 4.5, weighted GPA of 4.0, rank 1 in my class, and 27 on my ACT. I believe I have a good quantity and quality extra curriculars. So, considering I have a good extracurriculars and community service and other things, even with my ACT Score of 27, do I have shot at UCLA?
Care to share? I’m sure we all have different definitions of “good”.
Yeah you still have a shot, however your chance may not be the greatest due to it being rather low. Are you in state or OOS?

Instate is more competitive than OOS, if I have heard correctly. (Acceptance rate is higher OOS). I think you have a shot, as kids have gotten in with 27/28 from my school (OOS school) but maybe you should consider taking the ACT again. A 30 would put you in a different set of applicants.
@Frigidcold I just meant I hold many leadership positions in many clubs since I was a freshman. I have a community service record (haven’t added up my hours) starting since the summer before freshman year. I got a 780 on my math level II exam and I am currently preparing for my chem and phys exams which i hope to get 750 or higher. I have received a scholarship. I have been working two jobs (one for my parents, one for my brother) since freshman year. I have started 3 clubs, which I am president of all. ASB class representative freshman year… (which isn’t really something that’s “outstanding” or anything). I know I was very cage about describing my extra-curriculars. Sorry, but currently on the road and I get car sick if I’m on my phone for too long…
Another reason why I didn’t care to describe my extracurriculars in the first place was because I’ve heard that UCLA looks into GPA and SAT first and extracurriculars are sort of considered towards the end. So, I didn’t think it was necessary to even bother mentioning them.
@SternBusiness Thanks for the input! I am planning on taking the ACT one more time and I am actually aiming for a 30! I got my 27 without any preparation and now that I am preparing I feel like I have a shot at getting a 30! Just wanted to know my chances with my current profile

Without prep a 27 is very good. I think you will definitely be able to hit a 30+ with prep. Good luck!

UCLA recommends two subject tests also, so you should probably take those if you did not already. From my experiences Math 2 is the easiest to get a great score on (as long as you are a decent math students). For my second test I took US History which is definitiy not easy, but I did not feel like taking any of the science tests as I feel that those are the hardest. If you are good at a second language, many times the language subject test can be easy as well.
An ACT of 30 will still below the 50th percentile, so UCLA is still a slight reach. Aim for a 32.
