UCLA..changing majors? (Biochemistry)

I am an incoming freshman at UCLA and I’m considering switching from Biochemistry to Molecular Biology or Microbiology. How would I do that and is it harder to switch majors this closely related?

That is what my daughter did exactly, switching from Biochem to Mol-bio last year as soon as was admitted to UCLA! I don’t know exactly how but remember telling me that she changed that easily and promptly online!

At orientation, you will have the chance to change your major. It shouldn’t be that hard to change your major, it’s only difficult if you are trying to go between colleges, like from the College of Letters and Science to Engineering or Nursing or anything else. Some majors might require an application, and you can research that through the major departments, but for the most part you should be able to change at orientation if you want to change as soon as possible. Changing majors during the year is pretty easy too, in some cases you can just walk into the major office and tell them you would like to change your major.
