Does anyone know if they would rescind my admission if I drop two cources that I listed on the application update? I didn’t know that would be a condition of acceptance, and now I am pretty worried that I screwed myself.

@repo, with that sort of thing, it is truly determined on an individual basis. there would definitely be a cause for concern if your admission to UCLA was contingent upon you “maintaining your GPA,” i.e. they are concerned about your Spring grades, but if they said nothing about it, then you don’t need to worry as much. call admissions first thing tomorrow and they’ll be able to tell you.

what type of classes? pre-reqs? igetc? or some BS yoga class?

@repo ^ philo asks the better question :3

i got this
“Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units you reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates.”

what is it mean in term of “maintain the GPA”…
i have 4.0 right now…so i have to keep 4.0 through spring?..i m pretty sure that i can do it… but is this so ridicules?

@ucbecon, they don’t mean to necessarily maintain your current 4.0, they mean that they want you to remain above a certain GPA (typically 3.2) for the current semester

what’s your overall GPA, though?

@justinetruant major is 4.0 , overall is also 4.0… for spring is 4.0 till now.
but i took some classes which are useless in order to maintain full-time student.
the homework is annoying in one of those class, so i plan to drop it :(

@ucbecon, I don’t recommend dropping that class if you can get a passing grade in it; that will reflect a lot more poorly when the time comes to ask UCLA to clarify this information than would a C. if you want to clarify, I recommend calling UCLA tomorrow morning and asking if they literally mean that they want you to maintain a 4.0 (which I doubt) or if they simply mean that they want you to pass.

The classes are not pre-reqs. I finished all of my pre-reqs, have igetc completed, and I have completed far more than 70 units. The two cources were a Spanish class and a communications class. I only took them as unit filler, especially the Spanish, which I took to fullfill UCBs two semester language requirement.

@justineturant thank you, you are so helpful. i probably will give them a call tomorrow morning.

@ucbecon, no problem! you’ll be fine :)
