UCLA Decision status

Do I need to pass a concurrent enrollment class (currently taking) that I did not list on my UC application? (specifically for UCLA) I am planning to retake the class at UCLA so I don’t really want to put that much effort into passing the class.

Regardless if you did not list the course on your application, UCLA requires all transcripts so if you fail the class, UCLA will know and could rescind your acceptance. Also you need to update UCLA about the course since what you reported and what shows up on your final transcript, needs to match up.

If there are changes to your academic record…

Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

Thanks Gumbymom! But since I never reported the class to UCLA yet and I am very likely to not pass the class, in your opinion, is it a better choice to withdraw from the course? It will show a “W” on my community college transcript but at least in doesn’t appear as a fail.

A W-Withdrawl is always better than an F grade.

In my case, would withdrawing make it so I have no chance of being rescinded. Because I never reported taking this course and Withdrawing just shows I did not complete the course.

Take the W. If you get a grade C or above, you can’t retake anyway. I can’t imagine you’ll get rescinded.

Update: I got a D. What does this mean in terms of whether I am able to take this class at UCLA again(which I want to), and whether or not I will get rescinded.

^^^ not good

not good on what basis

@magicMike21

Not good on the basis that your admission could be rescinded. I haven’t ever heard of somebody getting a D before transferring and UCLA being okay with it and saying come and take it at UCLA.

You need to call them in the morning and see what they say.

P.S. What was the class you got a D in?

The class is differential equations. I’m a undergraduate admit, not a transfer (if that makes a difference). Also this class was not listed as one of my planned courses for senior year (if that info makes a difference)

Hmm, an undergraduate admit and not a transfer? I am assuming you got your D at a CC or another school, i.e. another UC or CS. I am assuming that is the same thing, you got admitted from another school, so then yes, you are still a transfer.

Reading on you said your Senior Year, meaning your senior year in HS? Then you’re in the wrong forum, this is for transfer students.

But I wasn’t aware that HS students could take a W in a course. That’s news to me.

So I can’t help you here but regardless give them a call in the morning. Nobody can give you a definite answer on your position besides UCLA.

Best of luck.
