UCLA emailed me this, will I be okay?

"To be considered for admission to the Pre-Pol Sci major at UCLA you must have completed at least 3 lower division major prep courses. You will have 2--Pol Sci 10 and 20 at UCR. The 3rd course must be Pol Sci 15 or 7 at UCR. Can you take one of these courses in the Spring? If yes, please let us know what your new Spring schedule will be as well as update your application. "

Problem is, Pol Sci 15 and 7 haven't been offered in a long time. They have been replaced with different courses, with the same content but different names. So I told UCLA this. Will I be okay without one prereq? Are they interested in me as an applicant?

Well the message basically says you won’t be considered if you’re missing one pre-req…

Whoa, you got an email from UCLA? You’re definitely in bro!

Well, the email doesn’t sound amiable. Are you going to complete that prereq class during the spring?

I think it means that they are interested in you, but they would like to know that you will complete the pre-reqs before they accept you.

My school doesn’t offer those classes but classes with the same content, diff names. As I said in the original post. So I hope it works out!

With almost 100K apps, and a compacted major like Poli Sci, I would imagine an email pointing out missing reqs is not a positive thing. This is the unfortunate side of how long the admissions process takes, because I know Spring is almost half way over at my CC so taking additional classes at this point would be impossible. I personally took 4 of the 5 reqs and am taking the 5th class (Only available at UCLA) during UCLA’s summer session. I also dont mean to sound rude just giving my opinion on the email.

Your counselor needs to contact them ASAP. Our school had a course name change that affected UC admissions and had to notify UC for every applicant.

check assist.org to see if the classes offered at your college are transferrable to UCLA.

Wannago2college is at UCR for which assist does nothing. I believe that if you are in fact taking, or have taken, the courses with changed name you should show the UCLA the course name changes paperwork as well as the paperworkk showing that you’re taking/ have taken those course/s. Best of luck.

Yup that is true. I just hope that the fact that UCLA likes me means that UCB would like me too

If you can get your hands on a syllabus from the class it would definitely help you. Go to the department chair and explain the situation and they’ll surely provide you with one. GOOD LUCK!
