UCLA Engineering Likely Letters

I just checked my mailbox and found an Open House invitation from UCLA. After a rejection from MIT this just feels really really comforting. Thanks UCLA

Did you get it in the mail or your email?

In my email. I got it at 5pm EST.

Did anyone else get it?

My son got it at 12:52am

If I didnā€™t get the email, does that mean I was for sure denied?

So do they stagger the invitationsā€¦? Thatā€™s odd that you two received them at separate times.

Probably not, since our son was a Regents invite and hasnā€™t gotten anything.

I didnā€™t have too good of stats (30 ACT, high 600s in physics and math subject tests), but Iā€™m still a little bummed. I figured my good grades, ECs, and essay would do it. Well, we will see by the end of the day. If I get one, Iā€™ll be sure to report it here.

@socaldad2, Did you son apply for engineering?
As I understand only Engineering School sends likely letters.

I donā€™t believe that theyā€™re done sending invites. I know 3 people with 2350+ sat 4.5+ gpa and two people with 4.5 gpa 2250 sat (including myself) who did not receive them. I havent heard of anyone I know receiving one yet. One is even in the running for a presidents scholarship (for a 36 ACT and 2390 SAT). So I wouldnā€™t worry too much at this point. Iā€™d give it a day to be sure that they are done.

BTW, for the two people who received letters: what department were they for?

Yes, Undeclared Engineering.

Thank you @SocalDad2.

This may not be the place for this, but does anyone know how good UCLA is with out of state aid? If I do get accepted, its between ASU Barrett and UCLA. ASU I can easily pay for, UCLA, not so much.

@matt0715 I dont know the specifics, but I know that UCLA is not very good with oos financial aid.

Received it last night around 10 pm PST. Applied for BME. SAT I: 2290, SAT II: 800 (Math II), 760 (BioM). After a shock rejection from SLO, this is reassuring.

@robdog91
I applied for bioengineering. The invitation is actually for UCLAā€™s Engineering Open House and Iā€™m sure you donā€™t have to worry about if you didnā€™t apply for the school of engineering.

Anyone get it from chemical engineering?

@vesper0723 it seems as if only BME applicants have received invitations. Although the Open House is for all majors, it is eventually split up for individual meetings with respective departments. Anyways, congratulations!
