UCLA Engineering Likely Letters

@vesper0723 just to clarify, I was referring to only engineering dpts/majors

Thanks @robdog91 and best of luck!

Congrats to everyone receiving the letter. If you get it, you are in, if you don’t, well it doesn’t mean anything. Certain departments within engineering choose who and how many and even if they are sending these. It is not a strict scientific cut off. S got it for EE last year. You can’t strictly compare stats and test scores. While of course they are sent to the higher scores, there is a holistic dynamic to this as well. So if you already know you don’t have the best scores and GPA, don’t look for one and wait for regular admission. But if you are a top performer, you may get one or may not depending on other factors like department numbers and how many there are similar to you. So don’t freak if you don’t. If you got one though - congrats. It’s wonderful to know early.

Does anyone know if people from the school of architectural studies received the letters yet?

does aerospace send them?

@loluid These letters are for the Open House for the School of Engineering only.

@sagar96 yes all engineering depts do. If you go to the 2014 open house page you can see it on the schedule. It seems like BME has been the only dept to send likely letters so far

I applied chemical engineering and just got mine!

Just got one for Electrical Engineering!

Just got one email (can hardly call it likely letter) asking me to save the date for Engineering open house. I applied for ComSci as 1st preference and Electrical as 2nd.

Got one for Electrical Engineering OOS

Just got mine! Instate, Civil Engineering
Really didn’t expect it because my stats aren’t the highest (2090/33/4.2), but incredibly excited!

Got one for CS

Got one for EE

Just to confirm, the likely letter is the invitation to attend the Engineering Open House on April 13, right?

I got an email invitation for the open house with the subject line “Save The Date - UCLA 2014 Engineering Open House Save The Date”.

It says:
The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of an important event for applicants interested in learning more about the wonderful educational experience the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS) and UCLA have to offer.

We have received your application to UCLA’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science and I want to commend you on your fine work in high school. Admission decisions have not been finalized or announced, however in late March you may check the UCLA Undergraduate Admissions website <a href=“UCLA myApplication Status”>www.admission.ucla.edu/myApplication for final decisions. You will receive an email from Undergraduate Admissions when Decisions are available online.

I cordially invite you and your family to save the date for UCLA’s Engineering Open House on Sunday April 13, 2014…

Is this the “likely” letter?

I got the letter (as an International applicant to Electrical Engineering) for the invite to the Open House, but it doesn’t say that I am likely to be admitted into UCLA at all. I’m kinda skeptical that this is an Early admission letter, but it does say that the dean “commends my work” and blah blah blah whatnot.

No letter yet  Not really expecting one, though…Blehh should’ve applied for regular Chem instead of ChemE. Would’ve saved me the worry.

Although it does not explicitly state likely letter, seeing the past CC threads and the people who have got it, I can quite confidently conclude it is one.

5oviet reporting for CSE letter.
