UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@FutureHaasBear Do most students get regents email from Davis? What % of transfer applicants get this email?

@hodol2006 well it kind of does matter because if schools are sending out their regents all on 2/11 and we didn’t get one from the school we wanted then we are kinda not in the running for it anymore…

@Tesla01 The top 6% I believe. I have a 4.0 gpa and my friend also does we both tagged to UC Davis and we got the regents email but no email from other schools yet.

Not getting the email doesn’t mean you are rejected

Can anyone answer my question plz
So there has been a change to my spring schedule as opposed to the one I had initially put on my tau.
I dropped one of the “recommended” courses before the refund deadline(Well I was on the waitlist & didn’t get in).

In this case, do I just log on to the UC app and re-submit the tau or do I email the schools first? Confused

^ I was wondering the same thing. I want to enter my winter grades but I am not sure if I should email the school first or re-submit the TAU.

@vousmeuerz @gaussx Hi. I’m pretty sure you update the Tau always! I called UCLa cause I was suddenly able to take 2 more classes that pertains to my major and they told me to just update the tau… call and double check! Their transfer admissions office people are so nice ask them anything haha

@GaussX No not rejected from the school obviously, just not in the running for the regents scholarships if we didn’t get the invite for regents…

Did anyone get the regents scholarship email from UCLA yet? I am a transfer student. I got one from UC Davis so far.

Hey everyone, like most of you on this forum I am very nervous about admission decisions. To start, I am a transfer student currently enrolled at a community college in northern california, and the major I applied for was Film and Television. I have not gotten an email for a TFT interview or about the alumni scholarship. I don’t know much about those, so I don’t know if that already means I am out. If anyone does know please let me know!

Now into the stats:
College GPA 3.93

  • I took one college class my sophomore summer of highschool and got a B in it. I haven’t gotten lower than an A since then.
67 units as of the end of this term
    IGETC completed
    SAT 1340, 710 math and a 630 reading
High School GPA 3.3 (they didn’t ask for this in the application)
    I didn’t take the ACT
I applied after high school to UCLA as a Nursing Major, but was denied from that.

As for extracurriculars, I currently have two jobs. I work as a part time server, about 20-30 hours per week. I also work as an actor, with only a few small gigs. I take acting classes and some film and directing classes outside of school. I don’t participate in any clubs or community service work, but I do spend my free time making short films with my friends and uploading them to youtube. My essays are pretty strong for both the UC application and supplemental application. As for letters of recommendation, I have one from my theatre teacher, and one from my stepdad (a UCLA Alumni who donates and is involved with the school).

As for my worries: I don’t have much to show for outside of my gpa and essays. I had applied before and was denied, but it was for Nursing (and I didn’t do the supplemental for it, no wonder I got denied. Just changed my mind on the major after starting the application.) I am also worried about the interviews, what are they/ who gets them?

Thank you all for reading this!

Lol. I was on the same boat, and I just updated my TAU yesterday. I emailed all the campuses I applied to before updating the TAU. UCLA just told me to update my TAU, so i did. Just update your TAU and then email them after you update it to make sure they receive your change. I got replies from UCLA and UCSB one day(which was today) after sending an email regarding my change in the TAU, and they told me they successfully received the change in my TAU. Do not worry too much. They know that most of community colleges start late and as long as you submitted your first TAU before the priority deadline, you are fine. They got all your records even though you change it several times. @vousemeurez

@coolcat212 I called their admissions office and they said there was no real portal login given to applicants. The only real one is the addmisions.ucla to see if you got in

If y’all look at the Cal thread, they said that only UCD sents out regents emails, UCLA and UCB do it after acceptance.

@throwaway97385 @Princetonian9 Not sure what exactly said person commented about me, but I was told to apply to UCLA, despite not being much of a fan. I had chemo treatment through UCLA so I feel like I owe them everything. The negative connotations associated with UCLA confirm that it will never be my top choice. My top choice is UCSB, so to the person who was ranting don’t worry hun, I’m not much of a competitor considering my major is relatively unpopular.

@vrios95 What negative connotations are you referring to? I was just wondering as I haven’t heard much negative stuff about UCLA.

@ZB9091 she was referring to comments made towards her not the university…

She specifically said “negative connotations associated with UCLA,” and also mentioned that she is “not much of a fan.”

@ZB9091 @Princetonian9 Negative connotations regarding my personal view on the campus. I spent a good year through UCLA hospitals receiving treatment for my cancer and a long term ex, who broke my heart after treatment, went to UCLA. So you can imagine I don’t want anything to do with the university but it would be kind of cool to see an acceptance from them.

Any willing to chance me real quick? Please let me know if there’s a better place for me to do this.

Transferring from an in-state CC:

  • 22 years old
  • English major
  • 3.72 GPA (major GPA somewhere around 3.85 if that’s helpful at all; I got one B ?)
  • IGETC completed and most (maybe all?) major requirements completed
  • Just over 60 units
  • I’m pretty confident in my personal statements
  • English tutor on campus for over 2 years, but that’s really my only EC
  • I’m not entirely sure what else would be helpful to add

Thank you so much for any help.

@capnlonelygale you would seem to have a good chance. On UCLA’s profile of admitted transfers 2018 English had a 44% admit rate. GPA range average 3.62 - 3.93. You can find the prereqs on there as well and on assist . Good luck?

I got an email requesting a copy of a transcript from one of the colleges that I attended. Does anyone know why these are sent out?
