@wkdalswjd You can send it but they do not need it.
@cereallife55
Hey, I just saw your chance me. Have you finished Calc 2 yet? I applied for BizEcon at UCLA. I was also part of the UCLA CCCP Scholars Program. The UCLA admissions officer told us straight from his mouth UCLA wants a 3.9 or higher GPA and also Calc 2 completed by Fall to have a decent shot. He showed us a chart and BizEcon/Econ was marked with three astrisks*** (super competitive at UCLA).
@Ohm888 So I notified UCLA about my updated grade for Calc 2 and I received this email back:
“Thank you for your email. The last day to submit additional Transfer Academic Update (TAU) forms through the UC application site was March 31st. Therefore, you will no longer be able to send a TAU with your Winter 2019 final grades. Please note that UCLA will only consider final grades up until the Fall 2018 term and planned coursework for the Winter and Spring 2019 terms. Winter 2019 final grades will not be required for the review process. We will contact you directly if additional information or materials is necessary”.
I know that we can’t submit another TAU, that’s why I notified UCLA about this in the first place. Does this mean I can’t even notify admissions about this update? I just want them to consider my A in Calc 2 because that is the last prereq for my major (BizEcon).
Also, if it’s true that final grades uptil fall 2018 will be considered only. Does that mean that the class that i’ve finished and sent a final grade to admissions won’t be? Like it won’t influence even a little over their decision? I assume that they would be able to take a look because they will definitely see my planned coursework as indicated above. So, I feel like this statement just doesn’t make sense.
@GoodAfternoonSir haha omg! I literally did the same thing today, and I received the exact same email back. I was also going to notify other campuses about my grade. Now, I probably won’t…
@GaussX Well, I didn’t receive any email back from the other campuses so I can’t say for sure if they’ll put my Calc 2 grade into account. I did however email the UC Application Center and received this response:
"Greetings!
Thank you for contacting the UC Application Center.
You should first log into the student portal for the campuses that you applied to in order to see if they have specific instructions for submitting updates to your academic history. You should then follow the below instructions for submitting an update letter.
Please reply to this email with the corrections that you would like to submit and all information pertaining to them. Once we receive them we will make them available to the campuses you applied to. Please be aware that you will not see any physical changes to your application.
If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us again.
Thank you"
This means that the UC Application Center will send my grade update to the campuses I’ve applied to manually. This won’t be shown on my TAU however, but they should have the information anyway.
Email all of the campuses you’re applying, then email the UC Application Center of the grade as well.
@CalBear1998 Hey! I’m also applying for BizEcon with TAP and CCCP! I don’t even have a 3.9 but I finished calc2 in the fall. Do you think that immediately disqualifies me for the major due to my gpa?
@whostolemycookie I am pretty sure you still have a chance.
@whostolemycookie TAP has a lot more breathing room. It will probably be fine as long as you don’t have a 3.4 or something like that.
@GoodAfternoonSir at this late date it’s probably already been decided. It’s not that big of a deal that they don’t see it.
For anyone deciding whether they should post their grades in classes they just finished. You should know that the UC Application Center is still able to send Transfer Academic Update information to your campuses.
The UC Application Center has sent the information to my campuses. Here’s what they said to me:
"Dear Student,
Thank you for contacting the UC Application center.
We have made your documents viewable to the UC campuses and they are currently imaged into our system.
Please be advised, you will not see any physical changes made to your application. Your correspondence will be shared to the UC campus(es) to which you have applied.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your application, please feel free to contact us at our Toll-Free number: 1-800-207-1710. If you are outside the United States, you may contact us at 925-298-6856. You may also email us at ucinfo@applyUCsupport.net.
Thank you,
University of California Application Center"
So I recommend you send your grade updates to the UC Application Center as soon as you can.
@Ohm888 yup. A lot of us have probably been accepeted or denied already to UCLA/UCSD/Berkeley. I got an e-mail on March 26th from Berkeley, they told me they were reviewing my application and they needed me to send my unofficial transcripts. I replied right away with them, so they probably already made the decision for me. I assume this is similar at UCLA and UCSD.
@Ohm888 how come some people get campus specific transcript requests/audit while mine was just from “University of California”
@adreezybones not sure, but regardless it does not matter. When you are sent that email and you update it, it goes to your UC application so every school you applied to can see.
I was never asked by any UC to send an unofficial transcript. Does that mean I was rejected?
@Glycogenolysis no.
@whostolemycookie I think you still have a good chance in my opinion! That’s just what the admissions officer told everyone at cccp, “to have realistic shot”. However, you already have a leg up for finishing calc 2 in fall. I’m sure even if your gpa isn’t 3.9+, just by having cccp on your application will give you a boost + extra components of the app. However, ucla does seem to care more about gpa looking at last years bizecon acceptance stats.
@CalBear1998 does CCCP give a boost? I’m in it as well and I was told by them that it just shows admissions that we are prepared for transfer. Hopefully it does give a boost because I really need it LOL.
@CalBear1998 Thanks! Hopefully we’ll both be hearing good news from UCLA soon!!!
@twelveseveneight according to the peer mentors at CCCP it doesn’t give you priority consideration but it shows that youre serious about transferring and successful students will generally reflect what they learned from CCCP in the PIQs. It seems that being TAP certified gives u better chances than joining CCCP since admissions flat out says TAP students get priority.
@whostolemycookie I am not sure TAP students get priority to admissions for UCLA. I knew a few students last year who were TAP and got denied. All it says I am pretty sure is that if you get denied for your first major, your alternate would be considered.
The major perk of doing the program is that you get priority consideration for admission to UCLA. The coordinator of the Honors program at my CCC, who also works at LA, said that over 90% of TAP-certified students are accepted outright, or are accepted into their alternate major (which must be non-impacted from L&S). It’s quite literally the only reason I completed TAP. If someone was rejected through TAP it was most likely an impacted major and/or their major coursework was missing something crucial. Thousands of talented people still get in without it, but it can only work in your favor.
