UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

well, most of these people wanted to update their grades when the UC’s obviously start to review applications :lol:

@GoodAfternoonSir how long it took after you sent hem the transcript to respond you that they shared it with all UCs?

@Ohm888 @bruins8clap @AeroDE
fwiw, I updated my grades till the last day of March. I had to, and I do hope they help. I had only ~25 college units in progress when I applied in November, and I was trying to finish the rest (35+ units) in winter and spring to be eligible for transfer. I am a one year transfer without using AP credits. So, whenever grades came out, like winter or spring fast track grades, I updated them right away. So far so good as I am currently able to maintain a 4.00 gpa. But, please do not try this at home, I did this because I was a 17-year-old fool who wanted to spread my wings and became independent as soon as possible :).

@lilii99 No negative effect whatsoever. In fact it shows your commitment by being proactive and sending any information you believe is important to them even after the application period has ended. It took less than 24 hours for the UC Application Center and all the other campuses I applied to verify they’ve seen the new grade :slight_smile:

@bruins8clap @Ohm888 Actually that’s not entirely true. So on one hand, UCLA stated that they’re going to be focusing on fall 2018 coursework but will also check out planned coursework for Winter and Spring 2019 grades. So, if you have indeed updated your winter and spring 2019 grade in the TAU at the very least before they see your application, they’re definitely going to see it of course. Whether they actually consider it is totally up to them, but in my humble opinion I believe they will consider those grades. Again, this is my own opinion and based on my common sense.

Now, UC Irvine and UC Davis have responded to me and they were happy that I have informed them of this update. They’ve sent me messages directly through my student portal. Based on the response they gave me I am assuming that they will indeed consider my new grades if they haven’t reviewed my application yet.

I agree with @Ohm888 that if the application has already been reviewed, an updated grade may very well not bring the application back from the “point of no return”.

@AeroDE No, In my case I wanted to update my grades if and only if I would receive my final grade earlier than usual. Turns out I was lucky and posted my grades in classes where I was able to complete all coursework including the final and receive a final result fast enough. This would ensure I would be ethical and completely honest with the whole process, as posting a grade you weren’t able to verify is unethical by default.

@stdnt4ever I understand your pain man, I took 30 units last semester and am currently taking 29 units this semester and it is brutal. But at the same time I like a challenge so cheers :wink:

Based on past years will UCLA announces the release date ahead of time or will it be a surprise release ?

@leomessi10yan

the past 2 years, it has been the last week of april on a wednesday. Before that, it use to be on a wednesday before Berkeley. I deduct this year it will either be the 17th (before Berkeley), or the 24th.

That’s exactly what I said @GoodAfternoonSir

Hi everyone!

Would be so grateful to get chanced, getting nervous at admission releases start.

CCC Transfer
Major: Political Science
GPA: 4.0 overall
IGETC: Just missing a one unit lab class that I’m doing spring semester 2019
TAP: Yes
Pre-req: One left, completed in Spring 2019, expecting an A
EC/Awards: HTTC and SCCUR research conferences, Model United Nations, went to the DC national conference where our team won the highest award, speech tournament with placed rankings, part time job (14-16 hrs/week) at a senior home, honors student council member, honors program member, volunteered as theater coach at my old high school

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB, USC
Accepted: UCSB, UCI (TAG)
Rejected: none so far

Essays were definitely stronger than my high school ones but can’t say much beyond a UCB admissions rep giving them the OK.

@GoodAfternoonSir Should I update even though it drops my gpa a bit (3.96 to 3.95)? It’s a really important class because it’s the last pre-req I needed ( chem for psych major). But idk if they will view the A- negatively or if it will actually decrease my chances instead of help me considering psyc is so competitive. I was expecting them to ask for my grades but they haven’t so should I even send them in?

@npound It’s up to you since its a major pre-requisite I definitely would. An A- is great and it will only drop your GPA by 0.01 so I wouldn’t sweat it.

@npound 3.95 and 3.96 is the same. Do not worry at all.

Guys please stop asking about winter grades. They say the only grades they take into account are up to fall 2018. You all are not an exception, sorry.

@adreezybones hey! I got an unofficial transcript request 3 days ago and it was from the University of California and not a specific campus :slight_smile: maybe some people are getting specific campus because they applied to different majors among the campuses?

I got mine back in Feb 26 I think. @gokingsgo1999 it’s nice to know they’re giving your application a really good look at this point just weeks before the release of admission.

WEEKS away but im still pretty nervous

@gokingsgo1999 really? when did you sent it and when did they respond you that they shared it with universities?

@willowstil hey did they request you to submit your winter grades or you just did because you thought it may be good?

@lilii99 They didn’t request them, I had to notify all the UCs I applied to of a change in a planned course for spring quarter so I just submitted my grades as well. As others have said, UCLA has a pretty strict policy of not accepting winter grades, but it’s up to each campus what they take into account. The UC app center said they would send it to each campus and did not say anything about not accepting winter grades. Honestly I mostly did it to appease my own anxiety lol, there’s a very slim chance it will affect anything, negatively or positively. So I wouldn’t stress about it.

@mpineda3247 just relax. Fortnite worldcup DUO qualifiers are today. Go watch TFUE or Liquid Chap wreck kids :stuck_out_tongue:

@willowstil omg same here. I was so anxiety and still am about that. I couldn’t not updating it and now I’m just thinking what if it cause impact on my application? also how long it took for them to send you the email that they shared those informations with all UCs?
