UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

I hope so! My plans are all on pause until I decide what university I will be going.

@bruins8clap
I also got an email from UC asking for my unofficial transcript but it was back on March 12, 2019. Obviously I replied within the hour since I check literally every second of my life lol

@bruins8clap I am hoping for miracles now since I did not complete the Cal 2 requirement, but I have heard there were transfers who got into UCLA and UCSD in the past few years without Cal 2( Business/Econ related majors).

I am from Pepperdine so I only took Business Calculus which only counts as the first Calculus course (I have confirmed this). I am in a Business Administration track so we only need Business Calculus (which covers some multivariable Calculus as well) and not Cal 1 and Cal 2.

My essays and grades are good and I hope at least I could get into UCLA or UCB! I won’t be surprised if I get rejected.

Best shot right now is still USC and Emory since they are way more lenient on pre-reqs.

@GoodAfternoonSir Lucky you! My course load is getting crazy now so I do not spend that much time on checking college confidential recently. My finals are next week.

I wish I have your free time so I could do more things that I truly enjoy and relax.

@sagaciousforever

Your finals are next week??? Dude Pepperdine gets out of school so early.

@sagaciousforever I mean I got like 3 research papers, a presentation, and a bunch of homework to do during spring break (seems like the teachers don’t understand the meaning of break smh), but rn with my day off today I’m just worrying so hard.

I wish I wouldn’t fret so much smh. With my free time, I should be doing more productive activities but fail to do so due to my incessant paranoia.

PLEASE UC BERKELEY ACCEPT ME

To a certain extent, it is unfair for those applying from a 4-year university because many important classes cannot transfer even if you take them at your current institution (which your major might not require but you are taking it for transfer requirements).

@bruins8clap Mine is next week but the majority of students end on April 24th-26th. I end earlier because I am attending an international program now, which is what Pepperdine is known for.

International program students end a little bit earlier. Anyways, I need to finish strong. There is only one class I am not certain in getting an “A”.

@sagaciousforever

They should. It’s kind of stupid they don’t. The pomona colleges, Pepperdine, Stanford, USC, etc. all should definitely have general education articulation across the board for all UC’s. I know USC for the most part does. I guess the private schools do this as a form of inclusion, and I know the private schools traditionally always have a few more general education requirements.

@GoodAfternoonSir Just do something important. It is good that I keep myself busy right now.

You do not want to waste your time checking this every day. Especially when you start your school in Fall, you will never get this free time concerning those matters.

I am as stressed as the rest of you but let’s be thankful for what we do know… Game of Thrones premieres on Sunday!

@bruins8clap Yes, I hate that UC prioritizes CC so much. They should give more chances to 4-year private universities as well.

For example, they should lower the requirement of pre-reqs for those who are from a 4-year and allow them to complete missing pre-reqs in the summer after admitting them. I would even take it if I need to spend an extra 2 quarters/ 3 quarters at UCLA/UCB just to get courses done.

If I were to be an UC admission officer, I would allow 4-year transfer admits to get their pre-reqs done even in Fall quarter. This may delay their expected graduation date but UCs would also make more money from tuition, right?

I simply don’t get why UCs cannot be a little bit more lenient as USC and other private schools. I know a few people who got into the USC without all pre-reqs done (missing one or two even).

@HeyItsNick

I still need to watch that show. I am currently re-watching Breaking Bad (my favorite show of all time).

@HeyItsNick @bruins8clap

I’ve gotta rewatch the office and avatar the last airbender.

@GoodAfternoonSir

The office is my 2nd favorite show of all time.

This scene was great.

@sagaciousforever The UCs are legally required to give CC higher priority. I attended a private four year my first year, so I understand your frustration, but there are simply too many CC applicants who are rejected to even consider making it easier for four-year applicants.

Update:

Just heard back from UC San Diego admissions. They said they do not officially have a date set yet.

@sagaciousforever ucla admissions officer from the ucla cccp scholars program i was a a part of told us applicants get rejected for bus/econ because they were missing pre reqs. he even said ucla wants calc 2 to be completed the fall before applicants apply/transfer in order to have a realistic shot for admission with a 3.9 gpa. Bizecon was marked with three *** for impaction and popularity

@HeyItsNick Did you transfer from USC to UCLA?

Anyways, I tried my best and I am just hoping they could at least consider me.

For the UCs, I applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI. Because of not finishing Cal 2, I am not 100 percent sure if they would consider me. I’ve seen transfer threads from past few years showing that people without pre-reqs got into UCSD and UCLA (although very rare).

I am not sure if this could happen to me as well. Even I have a relatively high GPA and good essays, I am nervous even for UCSD/UCI now.

@CalBear1998 Thanks for the information. I have heard that form someone else last month as well.

I am just hoping at least UCSD and UCI could consider me now with my missing pre-reqs.

Anyways, I am shifting my focus to the private universities that I have applied.

@sagaciousforever

Would you leave Pepperdine for UCSD or UCI? I would only leave Pepperdine if I got into Cal or UCLA or USC.
