UCLA: Bus-Econ (1st), Econ (2nd)
UCB: HAAS
UCSD: International Business
UCI: BA (1st), Bus-Econ (2nd)
@sagaciousforever good luck!!
@haasbear Thanks, you too. I feel like I come here today explaining about my situations of missing pre-reqs to get roasted lol.
@sagaciousforever Uci is probably gonna be reject for bus admin… On assist.org it articulated that spots for admission will be given to those w/ prep work done.
@haasbear We will see. UCI maybe not since I put Bus-Econ as well.
@haasbear Maybe UCs (not UCLA/UCB) change on their policy on missing pre-reqs. Once again, even they mention some information on the website, it does not mean that there are no exceptions.
@sagaciousforever damn I’m sorry man! I prob would have screwed up if I were transferring form a four year uni. That seems so confusing in terms of transferable course work.
@haasbear This could be an experiement of the consequence of missing pre-reqs. Anyways, I am excited to hear back from USC and Emory. UCs is just an experiment now to see if I can get in without all pre-reqs done. There are always exceptions.
Most applicants to UCs are from CC, so there are very few people in my situation from a 4-year university. This could be a good thing, and you never know.
@GoodAfternoonSir Not sure why it matters though… last year UCSD announced later than UCLA and Cal… and college rankings are evaluated differently on every website. Some say UCLA is higher ranked than Cal, but the others still say Cal is higher than UCLA. Nevertheless, they both are prestigious public schools. It is meaningless to compare those two universities at the undergraduate level.
@hodol2006 UC Undergraduate ranking in my opinion (not based on US News and specific major/program): UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCD, UCSC, UCR, UCM.
UCB is slightly better than UCLA in terms of prestige in the curriculum. Basically, more students who got into UCB also got into UCLA. But students who get into UCLA are mostly rejected/waitlisted by UCB. This is because UCB focuses more on the holistic view other than just grades, while UCLA cares too much on your grades. Obviously, standing out holistically is harder.
UCSB is better than UCI because UCI has too many unqualified international students (I am not trying to say all of them are academically poor). I know many of the international students who got into UCI with 1200-1300 SAT and very easily earned good high school GPA.
@hodol2006 Graduate level might be more important, but undergraduate has the best quality of students. So you will make the most valuable friendships and connections in undergraduate.
Take it this way, getting into UCLA for the undergraduate level is harder than the graduate level. The application pool for graduate school is also way smaller. Thus, the quality of the people/students around you is higher in the undergraduate level unless you go to an Ivy League graduate school.
Eating some BBQ chicken with potatoes right now guys
I hope Miss Helio is right
@bruins8clap AU was alright. It was too far from home and far too expensive for the experience. It was also smaller (only 6k undergrads) so I want a bigger school.
guys, so i dmed the official UCLA instagram account and i asked “Will the release date be announced before release?” and their response was “Unfortunately they will not. :/”
UCLA fam, please don’t make us wait 14 more days.
This month feels like a year long
PLEASE READ
No one has to provide a screenshot of a DM to prove something to a stranger. As noted elsewhere I will reach out to the mods to issue a warning because these endless speculations repeated incessantly over and over are not productive, and there are a handful of posters that are perpetuating these guesses across many of the UC transfer threads. It’s monopolizing the threads. Other posters come here with legitimate questions. So, unless you work in admissions please stop with what you think is going to happen. The notices will come out when they come out. Thank you.
@sagaciousforever Because I knew I couldn’t get into Business Econ, I applied for Global Studies instead because it incorporates elements of Econ. It talks heavily about globalization and has a lot of business internship opportunities abroad and in the states. Also I called UCSD, and not having all the prereqs down for that major is fine (I’m applying for that major too), it’s not a very impacted major and a lot of kids end up finishing the Calculus series there.
@bksyazd Thanks you for this information. Having a chance for UCSD calms me down a lot!
Applying to UCLA’s “Global Studies” is a smart move, but I did not complete any prereqs other than stats for this major. So it’s better for me to apply for bus-econ and econ.
Also, I am just wondering did UCSD told you regarding how many pre-reqs can you miss? My friend is missing the second English composition and Cal 2. We are from the same school.
